It was a hot and dry day, here on the savannah grounds that lacked any grass or trees. Only bones were Misbegotten company, as the young para walked between them. His white skin seemeth to be on fire, unforgiving sand trying it best to burn his muscles down. But he prevailed.

He wasnt here by his own choice, at least not exactly. He still remembers the blood, the meat, the delicacy of corpse feast. He craved it, together with that throat burning vile. A little danger in addition to fine dish. But, even young, Misbegotten wasnt dumb and knew that he is far from ready to walk around titans. While traveling, he saw many carnivores on his path and thankfully, all of them were rather occupied by territory fights. But, again, he wasnt stupid to stay there. The moment they stop arguing, their keen eyes would focus on him. He felt jealous, he felt helpless. Looking at his own feet with disgust, where are his own claws? He had to run, run where no one will find him. And thats how he ended up on desert. Surronded by endless sea of white sand, with mountains visible far, far away. And trees on opposite side, from where he came from. Theres no point of wandering around, Misbegotten thinks as he find larger rock to sit under. His small size lets him squeeze right in, cloaked by blissful shade. He pants as he lay his head down, eyes heavy. The sun is AWFUL, his white scales doesnt help at all. He didnt even checked the rock before deciding to lay down. Maybe if he did, he would notice the tiny hatchling, staring at him in fear, squeezed far under the rock.

Misbegotten woke up ever hungry and thirsty, but cooled off. He notice weird sensation and as he open his eyes, he see little hatchling hugging into his neck. It seemeth to be flyer, tiny little green thing, finding comfort in him. Oh, how delicious snack it would be, thrash it out of sleep and eat whole. He truly consider this long enough for little tapejara to woke up. Instantly, it jumps away, trying to flap their wings to no avail. He jumped, fall down and then crawl away in panic, calling out to the parasaur.

— Please! Please sir, dont eat me! Dont hurt me! I mistake you for someone else, your skin like my mother plumage! — chick says while Misbegotten gets up.

He slowly walk to the chick, with his hoof pinning it to the ground by their wing. He thinks as the youngling looks at him scared. Easy and quick snack, just one bite but that wouldnt fill him, not at all. Just a light snack, little kitchen. No, an idea strike his mind as he tilt his head and leave the youngling wing.

— Do not worry about that, little one. What’s your name? My own, Misbegotten, and im grateful to meet you.

He says with kindness in his words that pains him more then hunger. But it worked as the baby seems to calm down slowly. It must have hatched not quite long ago, maybe few days max. No instinct, believing him oh so fast.

— Oh! Oh hello, hello sir. I’m sorry, really sorry but… I do not have a name, not yet. My mom… i saw her once. I tried to look for her but couldn’t find it! Nowhere to be found! I came here with hope but… — hatchling got quiet, looking down at the ground.

— Ohhh, orphan just like me. Terrible fate for both of us. Be thankful then, young one, as i will give you new life.

Little flying rat for his disposal, he thinks about it. He could be useful, the moment he takes up to sky he could scout out any meat for them, like an vulture. His colors would cloak him nicely with greenery of trees as well. Of course, there are bigger rats then his species but that isn’t such a problem. The hatchling stood up happily, looking at Misbegotten with big bright eyes.

— Really? Really??? Oh thank you thank you!

Baby happily ran to him and just this time, he let him hug his head to his legs. Just this one, no more, nuh uh. He broke it soon but baby didnt mind.

— Really, but i need one thing from you to swear. — he says, sitting down. — Swear to me, young one, that you will stay by my side. Scout for me, little one, and that will be thy name.

Scout looked at him, maybe too many words for such small baby. Not knowing what half of the words even mean he nods happily.

— I swear, I swear!!! — he answers, jumping in place.

— And so, i will call you from now Scout, eyes of the skies. — Misbegotten says and chuckle.

He let the youngling climb into his back before standing up. Scout cuddled against his back, holding to him tight as young para peaked out of the rock. Sun was bright as ever but specific smell lingered in air. Misbegotten moves fully out of their rock hideout and take few steps, before seeing a small rabbit like creature. Or mouse like. He didnt know what that exactly is, only interested in it dead state. A snack, but not useful to him anymore other, then food. But he knows how world works so he gestured with his head to Scout.

— We are lucky, Scout. This little desert mouse seem to be dead, from sun or night cold, hard for us to know. Feast upon it, you may not get another chance.

Scout wasnt sure but at the same time, its hard for him to say when he ate before. He jump from Misbegotten, trying his best to glide down before pecking at the warm skin. Sun cooked his body alive it seems. Misbegotten watched as the little tapejara ate few bits of the corpse before being full. He then finished it, with few bites of his own. Perfect meal, even if it hurts his body but oh, how it delights his mind.
