Järker & Calamity - All in the Past
The sand coloured anteo by the name Järker was marching over the now snowy sand on the beach he frequently visited. He walked with wide steps, much like a bulldog, and he was very much disgruntled over the gold coat of snow that was burying his precious playground.
In protest, he whacked his brightly coloured tail tip against the ground at times to throw away some snow.
Just as the grumpy anteo left the beach, he stumbled upon an unfamiliar figure. Ahead of his stood a much bigger dinosaur, a dacentrurus. But this one was much spikier than the usual dacens were.
The mostly dark coloured herbivore looked down on the grumpy Järker, who snorted as he made eye contact.
“What's with the outfit?” Järker asked, referring to the scruffy dacen’s red halter and dangling neck harness, both adorned with golden bells.
At first, he just got an offended huff as a response, but his frowned face prompted the dacen to speak.
“I'm Krampus.” the brown, thorny dacen replied.
Järker was seemingly even less impressed than before. “Is that supposed to mean something to me?” he snorted at the dacen, who seemed rather appalled by the disrespect shown.
“I am the very dinosaur who kidnapped Santa Claws!” he angrily snarled towards the stupidly fearless anteo.
“Is that so..” Järker replied before scratching his neck. “You don't look too impressive.” he added as he gave Krampus a stone cold gaze. Few things phased this anteo.
“You little-” Krampus started as he moved towards Järker only to be stopped by a spiked and feathered tail. He quickly looked over to whoever it was attached to, and next to him stood a dacen with a feathered coat almost perfectly blending in with the snow, if not for the dark brown stripes following his body.
The newly appeared dacen looked down at the slightly confused Järker before looking at Krampus, who was filled with so much rage at this point that one could almost think fire would come out of his nostrils as he was breathing.
“I see we're picking on someone smaller. That's not very nice.” the pale dacen said as he stared down the angry Krampus.
“I'm right here..” Järker grumbled. He didn't like being called small. He had a big enough attitude to not be seen as small, he thought.
“And who are you to disturb us? We were merely having a conversation.” Krampus huffed.
“It seems our definitions of what a conversation entails is very different. I wouldn't consider lunging at someone to be a civil conversation, would you?” the white dacen calmly said before actually answering Krampus’ question. “You can call me Cal, by the way.”
“I'm not going to call you anything but a nuisance.” Krampus hissed as a lunged forward in an attempt to tackle Calamity, who just barely managed to avoid the initial attack.
While Krampus had a size, and most definitely strength advantage, Calamity was young and agile for his size which was an advantage in itself. Calamity gave Järker a quick gaze, and without needing to exchange any words, the two knew what had to be done. They had to team up to chase this monster of a herbivore away, hopefully they would hurt his ego just enough for him to not pull any kidnapping stunts this year.
While Calamity swung his spiked tail towards Krampus’ face, Järker ran up and grabbed the aggressive dacen’s red tipped tail spikes to attempt to prevent him from being able to swing back at Cal.
Krampus dodged Calamity’s swing with a smug smile on his face, but before he was able to regain his position, the young dacen charged into his paler side with as much force as he could manage.
This second attack causes Krampus to let out a muffled grunt and stumble a few steps back, and he swings his tail back and forth as best as possible with Järker attached to it in an attempt to shake him off.
To avoid getting impaled by Krampus’ shoulder spikes, Järker lets go of his tail before he manages to swing him around too much. He lands on all four feet beside Cal and growls towards Krampus, whose temperament is beyond hot at this point. But he realises fighting one on two isn't a great idea, and backs off slightly.
“Just you wait until I have backup!” he gnarls at them before huffing and walking off.
Cal and Järker stare in his direction as the jingles of his bells get more and more quiet. When they can no longer hear him, they both let out sighs of relief, and a chuckle leaves Cal’s mouth.
“What's so funny?” Järker asks the pale, brown striped dacen.
“Nothing, really. I'm just at a loss of words over this.” Calamity responds.
“You sure are talkative for being at a ‘loss of words’” Järker snorts. “Thank you, though. I don't think I would've won on my own.”
Calamity smiles a little. “Don't mention it. It was pure luck I was here at the right time. I hope your day gets more pleasant from here, it was nice meeting you.” he added as he walked off in the opposite direction to where Krampus headed.
“You too.” Järker replied before marching on towards his den. He wanted no more social interactions, preferably for the whole rest of the winter.
