Harsh snow blew across the island as a large snow storm took hold with most dinosaurs taking in or the very few brave ones who would travel through the cold temperatures either making it or sealing their fate to the elements and a group of styracosaurus were in the thick of the storm as snow caked onto their heavy feathers , pushing their way through the deep snow that froze their scales, a large dark feathered bull led the small herd and went by the name of Zombie and behind him were two more braving the snow storm.

“Are we getting any closer Zombie I am afraid Mereditth is taking the cold harshly” a rough voice came from behind him from Descole another large bull who had experience in the harsh storms that the island had every once in awhile, making Zombie come to a stop as he looked back behind him down to Meredith who was coated in snow and trying her best to push through the deep snow.

“ We should find shelter somewhere around here, I believe these slopes have low caves so we can get some rest” Zombie said as he stood in front of Meredith to try and block her from the freezing wind, the small herd made their way up the rocky slopes careful not to slip as snow moved with each step and any wrong move could prove deadly which Zombie and Descole knew very well. After a while the storm had gotten worse with Meredith having problems trying to keep up to Zombie and Descole as she stopped shaking out her feathers.

Before the much younger sty spotted a dark opening in the side of the mountain almost looking like a set of jaws hanging off the side, it was a cave which would be shelter for the three to hunker down into to hide away from the brutal storm.

“ Look let's go in there I think it will protect us from the storm, I don’t think i can move much further Zombie” Meredith said as she walked towards the cave and Descole nodded to Zombie who followed quickly the large herbivores now in the cave that was dark but dry, Descole shaking out his feathers as he looked around it wasn’t the greatest place to take shelter but it worked for now and it seemed like Zombie and Meredith were getting comfortable at least.

“This is much better good fine Meredith we can warm up and rest in here until that storm blows over, and it seems like there is some left over bedding from other visitors” Descole said as he laid down resting his head before watching Zombie come over and sit a bit aways from the two before he spoke.

“I don’t remember the storm being this bad last year, it gets colder every season but good find Descole was right I was even getting cold out there” Zombie said as he watched Meredtih playfully spar with Descole who was tolerating her so she could get her energy back from the harsh journey.

“ please tell me about the other seasons, you two said you have seen the harsh weather before, I want to learn and tell me a story!” Meredith said as she jumped around playfully before heading towards Zombie who was laughing at Descoles predicament with young Meredith. The much older bull turned over to get some rest as he wanted to leave the story telling to Zombie and besides they did need something to pass time from the storm.

Zombie nodded and smiled before motioning Meredith to go lay beside Descole who was getting his much needed sleep in their hunker down idea, and Meredith did quickly as she snuggled into his feathers at the ready for Zombie to start his many stories to share with her about the last freeze the two bulls had been through, as a few hours passed Meredith had asked many questions with Zombie going further into detail each time with the stories and Descole was passed out snoring his time away.

“Wow Zombie, those journeys must have been so cool with traveling , I hope I get to travel like you and Descole” Meredith said as she let out a yawn from her beak and closed her eyes finally dozing off as the snow storm began to calm outside but hunkering down for a bit never hurt anyone especially Descole as he kicked his legs in his sleep causing Zombie to chuckle before also letting out a yawn.

“Maybe some shut eye wouldn’t hurt, get some rest you two” Zombie said before shaking out his feathers and joining in next to the sleep pile with Meredith in between them.

Hunkering down during the snowstorm was always a good idea and for them sleeping it off was the best course of action, well along with old tales.
