[Trade] Kinship
It was early morning, the birds were singing, the sun had climbed the endless sky. Clouds shyed from the rays of the sun. The open planes were rather quiet. Ruffling could be heard bellow, in the open planes with rolling hills. Shuffling out of a shallow den, climbed a long legged carnivore. Slowly getting out, the large bistre brown Carnotaurus lifted her head. The sun shining in rays through her crests on her head, suddenly, with a violent shake. Her feathers spread out and flopped about with her body twisting side to side aggressively, dirt and twigs flying from her coat.
Under her feet, against her tail and talons, two smaller creatures, small harmless hatchlings. Brushed under the adult, a dark colored young male who appeared almost of that of a pumpkin. While the other, more than green, feathered just like his mother above him. Green eyes fell below her, looking down at the small energetic hatchlings. With a soft grunt, she lowered her head, looking under her body, down between her talons. Her second stood under her, nervously watching his bald brother rush out into the grass.
Stepping back, Boba reached down and gently lifted the small hatchling into her jaws. Looking up, and listening, she heard the other small hatchlings grunts and trotted after him. After she spotted him in the grass she made her way towards the little male.
Little Pumpkin, Snorted and snapped his jaws, leaping in the air and crushing his teeth in bites at the air. Angry hissing and croaks filled the winds around them. A small, but fast dragonfly was toying with him! The greatest hunter of all time!
“Mom! It won't stay still!” The small predator snapped, snorting and striding after the bug again, not hearing the grunt of his mother attempt to warn him to not get too far as she followed him. Emu, on the other hand, worriedly watched his brother run further and further away! “Can you put me down?” The small hatchling whispered, glancing at his mother through his limited gaze of her muzzle due to being carried. Once her green orbs met his, he found his feet touching the ground once more. And turned to quickly run off towards the sound of the angry snaps of his brother.
“Pumpkin! — Don't run off!” “It's mine!!” “Huh??” Emu skidded to a halt as his view became clear through the tall grass, pumpkin stood in a rock proudly, holding the buzzing bug in his mouth by its wings. But, being a clumsy little hatchling still struggling to figure out how to work his long legs.. well, he couldn't stop in time. Sudden pain filled his jaw as his teeth bit at his tongue, his eyes shut as his feathers clashed forward, his chest and body feeling the impact against the latter. Pumpkin let out a cry and slipped off the rock, reaching up with his long wobbly legs and licking the air and at what just hit him.
“Ow! Why did you do that!” “I'm sorry!!” “That bug was mine!” – “I – didn't want the bug!” The two started bickering, angry croaks and cries and hisses filled the air. Boba, having watched the scene play out, only grinned and shook her head. Before rushing over, with one, no two long strides, leaning down and gently nipping at the two young males. Both shrieked and ducked down, before looking back up as the larger Carnotaurus moved over them. Pumpkin, the first to shoot up, let out a tiny, but mighty roar. “She didn't! Come on Emu! We have to get revenge!” “wait what?” “Get her feet!” With that, pumpkin was off, chasing after his mother. Emu, hesitantly chased after him. With their mother leading the charge, rushing through the tall grass, she was stomping it down, just enough the boys could find her tail.
Pumpkin leaped over a small stone, his head down and little baby horns ready, emu behind him, watching his more wreckless brother. But once he realized what game they were playing, he smiled, and assumed a similar pose to pumpkin, as the two ran through the small trail of grass.
Soon, it stopped. Their mother's small trail had vanished. Stumbling out of the grass, both hatchlings landed in the dirt. Looking up, their mother was nowhere in sight. But she couldn't be gone? Right? She wouldn't leave them!! Standing up, Emu shook out his feathers. Pumpkin grunting as the long coat smacked him once or twice. Stepping away, but more focused on where Boba had went. Looking around, he couldn't see anything! No tracks! Not even one!
“Is she playing hide and seek?” “I thought we were playing chase?” The two looked confused, Emu hunched himself down and stepped closer to pumpkin, who puffed his chest out and arched his head upwards. Attempting to look around. Before suddenly a loud thud came behind them, with a playful yet familiar friendly call. Both hatchlings let out a loud scream of terror, Emu freezing up and falling over, Pumpkin rushing forward only to trip on his brother's tail. Landing in the dirt.
Boba, having snuck up and jumped out at her offspring, laughed. Leaning down and nuzzling the two little carno's. “Got you!” “MOOOOMMMMMMMM” pumpkin sat up, rolling over quickly and standing up, and rushing at her to deliver a powerful blow to the larger ones nose. Well, the only thing that came from it was a small thunk, before boba dramatically fell the ground and rolled over. “OW OH YOU GOT ME!” in a very, dramatic fashion, the feathered dinosaur rolled over, and in a even more dramatic pose.. pretended to play dead.
Emu, got up quickly after pumpkin charged the “attacker” only to realize it was his mother. Letting out a releaved sigh, he got up and ran over to leap onto her side. Cooing happily. “Moooommmmm don't do that!!” “Yeah! Or I'll charge you again!!” Pumpkin chimed in, his tail waving in the air. Snorting in his victory. After a moment, boba lifted her head suddenly, in another attempt to scare them, which emu flinched and jumped back, while pumpkins eyes widdened but he dared to not move. “Fine, fine boys! You got me! Let's go get breakfast yeah?” “Yes! Can we eat an an… the biggest prey ever!” “Hm, maybe when you can take down the biggest prey ever”
With that, the mother canrotausus rolled over and pulled herself up, the hatchlings sliding off of her. Following in her tracks as they began to look for a meal..
