It was the season of courtship with many dinosaurs joining together to do their various dances and gifting to one another, an uproar on the island with the movement all across the island a certain Cryo was on the hunt for a partner and it would be his first time ever courting and he was a little nervous. Purple scales flashed through the green foliage along with a white crest that highlighted dark eyes, his movement quick as he stopped to sniff the air picking up on a scent he had been following and it was a scent of another cryo along with it being female, a possible partner?

Down the stream in the forest white feathers followed by blue eyes watched closely at various birds flying around as she tracked each one’s movement keeping her own movement unmoving. Merlin hadn’t been one to go out of her way to find a partner during courting season and she was fine handling herself most of the time although the feeling of having a partner in crime was always at the back of her mind.

“Finally some peace and quiet , I swear that bellowing went on for all hours of the night” she growled moving when the birds landed. She hadn’t run into any of her species and if she did Merlin usually took off before any suitors could approach her but she was unaware of her presence being tracked by Monster. 

Monster watched the white feathered female

Cryo and kept his position hidden , he had never run into another one of his kind during the courting season he didn’t even know where to start as he shifted his weight nervously in some foliage he was hidden in.

“There she is, what do I do now” Monster mumbled to himself as he looked around watching Merlin with a stare before snapping out of his locked gaze on her.

“Don’t be stupid Monster, besides how hard can courting be?” He said giving out a laugh before taking a step forwards, it was time to shine. Merlin had overheard the male cryo and rolled her eyes knowing he was on his way to impress her but she seemed to be interested as her gaze watched the purple scales and white crest he spotted, this one was different.

“You can come out now, I already seen you” Merlin said as she puffed out her feathers watching Monster approach her, her eyes widened when she saw his full appearance. Monster came out to the sound of Merlin's voice as she stood in front of her; the two now matched with each one taking slow steps.

“Were you following me, and what's your name?” Merlin asked as she moved around Monster studying him, the male standing still as he was nervous awaiting the time to answer her.

“I wasn’t following I was just passing through” Monster said as he choked on his words when Merlin approached him as she was now closer to him but he also noticed a dead bird near it seemed like she was hunting and it had given him a idea in what to gift her and start the courtship process he wasn’t sure if it would work but it was worth a try at least.

Merlin nodded letting out a sigh before letting her guard down a bit and giving off a toothy smile towards him “Well I am Merlin it’s nice to meet you, I love your scale coloring very bright” she added before going to sit back down in the leaves that covered the forest floor.

“I was just out here hunting the birds it’s always a fun thing to do” she said, watching the birds she chased away returning to the branches around them, which would allow Monster a chance at courting her. Monster nodded as he listened to Merlin walking over to the trees where the birds rested, he just needed to catch one.

“That is true, it always proves a challenge which I like!” Monster added as he leaped from the ground making the birds fly in panic before jumping back up again as he caught a bird in his jaws which while he did this Merlin watched intently on Monster her interest ever growing in the male cryo.

Once Monster had caught the bird he walked to Merlin slowly flaring out his crest to the best of his ability not trying to rush, he was starting his courtship and hoped it would go smoothly with her. Merlin watched as she ruffled her feathers seeing the bird as she stood up slowly giving off a small smile.

“This is for you, and I guess I was following you” Monster said as he dropped the bird in front of Merlin before standing tall to show off his crest to her and all his purple scales that brightened due to him flushing blood into them and now it was time to wait and see what Merlin would do.

Merlin gave a smile as she took the bird in her jaws before matching Monster as she rubbed against him, making her way around him carefully before leaning upwards and the two touching snouts with one another as it meant she accepted him, he had done it well the first step at least.

“I knew it, and thank you” she growled softly to him as they now headed off deeper into the woods with the bird in Merlins jaws and Monster not far behind her, over the next few days the pair would test each other over and over to further their courtship bond. Many courted pairs would moved to hunt bigger game during hunts and build a nest to the upcoming clutch they would have in this harsh world and that was the important next step.

Coming to a small cave Merlin lead Monster in and Monster stopped taking in the nice area before following his new found partner inside, this would be their home for the next upcoming months with the new additions now about to be on the way.
