Cresselia X Frankie - (Courtship)

The season of courtship was in the air and most dinosaurs were out doing themselves to show off to potential partners, different species did a variety of different courtship rituals and two utahraptors were in the middle of starting theirs as a colorful flash of scales dashed past through the forest and behind him was another color packed scaled utahraptor, the two were testing each other and had been over the past few days.

“Come on Frankie can’t keep up with me! All flashy and nothing to show for it!” Cresselia barked out as she dashed ahead of him, with Frankie feeling his face get hot as he laughed chasing her with the two weaving in and out of the trees in the forest, many utahraptors courted in different ways and these two didn’t like the usual flare of feathers due to not having them and it being boring in their minds a great chase was the first step for them and they were enjoying it.

Cresselia held the lead as Frankie did his best to keep up but his future partner was pretty quick as he watched her jump over logs and fallen trees as he stopped to catch his breath letting out a chuckle.

“Challenging each other are we?” he said before following behind her as they dashed out of the forest into a grassy area that wasn’t far from the river that flowed softly as fish jumped from the water landing back in.

“Frankie look! How about we do some fishing and see if you are capable for providing for me” she joked as she approached the rivers edge looking at the water awaiting movement, Frankie joined in in the idea and he wanted to prove he would be a good hunter for the pair and could provide as he approached the water watching intently as Cresselia cheered him on.

“I will catch all the fish for you! Just you watch Cresselia” Frankie said as he puffed out his chest and entered the shallow part of the river as he watched fish swim just in reach waiting for the right moment to strike so he could catch one and give it to Cresselia.

With a quick splash Frankie plunged his jaws into the cold river and latched his jaws around a fish as he pulled it out fighting against the flopping around as he walked over to Cresselia proudly and placed it on some rocks near the river and infront of her.

“Oh my look how big it is Frankie!, you caught a huge one I love it. guess that box is checked off” the she raptor said as she leaned down, taking the fish into her jaws and eating it licking her jaws afterwards. The two nudging one another softly before Cresselia was off on the next series of tests she had for the two of them and that was to build a nest and find materials.

The two walked side by side as they entered back into the forest as Frankie followed liking all the tests they were going through even though it was basic courtship he thought it was fun and different for the two, Cresselia handed him various sticks she caught eye of and wanted to use in their nesting area and there was a lot.

“How about these Cresselia?” Frankie said as he found himself some and some soft nesting material on the forest floor which she nodded quickly too with a smile, the two continued finding more and more with each step they took.

Once satisfied with all the material they found Cresselia and Frankie now were on the lookout for a nesting spot and that was the most important part, it had to be sheltered and hidden so they could protect the hatchlings against the weather as the island could be harsh during the hatching season.

Frankie took the lead on this one as he trotted head poking around different areas shaking at the ones he didn’t like and showing others to Cresselia for her input on the nesting area, and near the base of a large tree there was a hole.

“Come check out this area I think it’s perfect Cresseila” He barked out to her as she dashed over quickly excited about Frankie’s find, and with a widened and happy expression she jumped in the air playfully before crawling inside quickly.

“It’s perfect I think this will do, we can protect it and the shelter it will provide is great, good find”  she said as she moved quickly putting the sticks and various places inside the hole as she let Frankie help her in placing all the materials they had gathered from the forest, the new pair super excited. 

Stick after stick and padding after padding, Cresselia worked hard and Frankie helped where he could the most, courtship was delicate and meant alot to some well others it didn’t mean much so the new pair wanted to do it right and properly. Stepping back and taking in their new found nesting site they both barked with joy.

It was time to test out the new spot as they both crawled inside and fluffed it up with their bodies and snuggled into one another as they nudged each other gently letting out low growls and content barks, they were ready and would protect along with build up their nesting site over the next few weeks to come.

Their bond would strengthen as well as they spent more time around each other as they hunted and traveled taking on the world one day at a time preparing for their new brood to come. 

“ I think it’s time to get some rest, as we have been at it all day Frankie, I cannot wait for their little chirps to echo in our new home” Cresseila said as she nuzzled next to him and dozed off to sleep, Frankie nodded and agreed as he laid down thinking of the time it would take until they were here, he too was excited.
