*Flap Flap*

“I have to get back to the nesting grounds or I am going to never be able to court! Must hurry!”

A soft voice said as she flapped the hardest she could towards the beaches of the island, it was Hen a small tapejara female who was in the first year of courting and was excited to be a mother but seemed to be a bit behind on the timing as she fought to get there even if it exhausted her.

Deep inside the forest small movements could be seen as the foliage rustled before a small snout stuck out followed by a head who looked both ways before motioning to others who were behind him as two other little snouts followed before three figures stood together.

“It’s clear, I don’t see anything but stay close” the small acro said who spotted a pale grey scales and went by the name of sleeping Giant but the others with him called him Giant for short, next in line was a small utahraptor named Hyacinth who stuck close to Giant as she looked around. 

“Wait for me! Don’t rush ahead you two” a small chirp came from behind them and a flash of orange scales tumbled into them and that was Quiche a small cryo that had joined their little pack of hatchlings, they had escaped the alpha labs and were now in the surface world when the doors opened. Being lab born the three hatchlings had never experienced the surface so this was all new to them and to be honest they weren’t sure what to do but so far they had found themselves into the lush forest with Giant leading them and the other two following.

 “Don’t mess around Quiche we don’t know what's out here, we have to be careful like Giant said” Hyacnith barked as she looked at Quiche who was getting to his feet after the fall, they were in the surface world now and everything was different to them so taking it slow would be the best action or least they thought.

“I didn’t mean to, besides the ground is all messed up I tripped” Quiche hissed softly before looking around with Giant and Hyacinth, the three wanted to find somewhere to settle down for shelter to regain there bearings in the new world but it seemed like fate had another thing to throw at the little trio as they heard a loud smack and a soft voice up ahead of them.

“I didn’t watch where I was flying how clumsy of me!, I am going to miss the time maybe I should just try next year” the small female taperija who went by the name of Hen who had been flying overhead due to being late to the courting islands and in her rush she had hit a tree, as she rubbed her crest with her claws she felt the gaze of three sets of eyes on her, she was being watched.

The larger hatchling who went by the name of Giant kept low as he spotted Hen before looking back at Hyacinth and Quiche who followed closely them now all set on the new stranger before he popped the question out loud.

“Should we eat it?, I think we can catch it and from all that walking I am pretty hungry” Giant said as she licked her jaws waiting for a answer from her  group, as Hyacinth walked up seeing Hen and her eyes widened “We aren’t eating her, we don’t even know what that is!” she barked before watching Quiche join them and he looked confused at the new stranger as it had wings it was definitely something they hadn’t seen before.

Hen turned around as she let out a squawk hearing the words seeing the three hatchlings approaching her “I am not food! You three should know better, where are your parents! Out here by yourselves” she said as she flared her wings out to make herself look bigger than she actually was, although she was scared as carnivore babies proved to be threatful sometimes she was also curious as to why they were out in the dangers of the world.

The small utahraptor tilted her head as she watched Hen and smiled “We won’t eat you, Don’t mind Giant he always is hungry, also what are parents?” as she was pushed out of the way by Quiche who wanted to get a look at Hen and ask his flurry of questions. 

“Yeah where are we? And what are parents we have never had those” Quiche said as he watched sitting down in front of Hen with Hyacinth, both younger hatchlings now fixed on Hen who was still taking everything in as they talked, Giant also joined in asking the questions.

“Where are we? We only knew the labs, it was dark up here, it's all bright , you must know tell us” Giant said as he laid down sniffing in front of him before lifting his head.

Hen lowered her wings as she fluffed up her feathers and gave off a small smile “You guys are orphans you won't ever survive up here, I can take you with me and raise you, I have never been in the lab but I know a lot of the surface world” she squeaked as she brought the three hatchlings closer, maybe she wouldn’t have made it to the courting grounds but she had a new mission and that was to protect and raise Giant, Hyacinth and the little orange cryo Quiche.

Quiche smiled and nodded before looking at Giant and Hyacinth as they nodded as well in agreement “I think we would all like that I don’t know if we would last a day up here” as he took in the warmth from Hen as Giant and Hyacinth joined in as Hen smiled before stepping back and flapped up before speaking.

“ Well let's explore your new world , I have lots to teach you three so come on!” Hen said as she flapped off, the first to follow was Giant and the other two were quick to follow the small group who once lived in the dark now experiencing the first days on the surface and to start off they had been taken under Hen’s wing the two groups meeting was possible fate or did the world just work in mysterious ways.

Hyacinth skidded to a stop as she looked back at the large doors that once blocked them into the place they only could call home, Quiche and Giant approached from behind and understood this would be the last time they would see those gates and they all nuzzled one another before turning to Hen’s calls and let out laughs as they trotted catching up.

“To a new life! And a memorable moment we will cherish forever!” Giant said as she nudged Quiche playfully and Hyacinth was ahead of them as they spotted Hen who was happy to adopt and join them in their new life.
