The sound of small footsteps making their way through the mud as the rain came down harshly hitting the scales of every dinosaur causing them to be soaked, three pairs of eyes watched from the bushes as the movement of a parasaur herd is what they were focused on, the largest figure moving her eyes as her scale plates shifted with her weight when she was joined by two other figures who went by the name of Calisto and Artemisa.

They were a small albertosaurs pack who had formed during their younger years and still traveled around working as a unit to take down prey that was large and dangerous, the three only being young adolescents they still had a lot to learn but this was about learning how to adapt and a challenge. The leader was a large female alberto that was named BlackOut and she led the pack followed by the other two.

With a low growl the brown and blackened scaled Calisto moved forwards as she looked at the herd who were grazing out in the rain as she spoke softly “ are we in position yet Blackout?, the herd seemed to be at a stand still for now and the rain is covering us” she said as she flicked her tail. Behind them came Artemisa who was the smallest of the three and she wanted to get into a lower position but she stayed silent keeping her eye on the herd.

The herd had no idea that the adolescent Albertosaurus were stalking them and this would be the three’s first hunt with big game such as the island's parasaurs but they felt they were ready, they just needed to wait for the right moment. 

Blackout raised her head as she noticed one of the larger but old bulls straying too far from the herd and she knew they may have a chance as her red eyes locked in on his movements before she let out a silent and low growl.

“That one, follow me and stay quiet” she said as Calisto nodded along with Artemisa who nodded in silence before the three moved further from the brush into the open as the large bull had walked far enough off from his herd and was entering a kill zone which the three wanted.

Calisto took the lead as Artemisa kept back with BlackOut who wanted the smaller alberto to be a distraction while they went around and ambushed the parasaur bull, that was the plan and they were going to stick to it.

Artemisa sighed as she shook out her feathers hearing what BlackOut wanted her to do but agreed “fine but one of you two are doing it next time” she said growling as she looked back at Calisto and BlackOut who nodded with grinning teeth.

“Here goes nothing I guess” Artemisa rushed out into the open roaring as she flashed her teeth at the large parasaur bull who turned to face her and let out a bellow as he dwarfed her in size, it was working.

Calisto licked her jaws as she moved forwards at BlackOut’s nod and soon following behind her was BlackOut, the young alberto’s were in action their first time in an actual hunt. The large bull was chasing Artemisa who was roaring and doing her best to dodge the large herbivore and she was doing a good job as she spotted Calisto and BlackOut who now showed up to the fight, which turned the bulls attention when he was met at the flash of more jaws and roars.

“Someone wandered too far from their herd, a good meal indeed” BlackOut growled as she watched Calisto take the otherside of the bull, it was now time for the attack. Calisto was first to be on the attack as she rushed forwards slamming into the side of bull parasaur who was not quick enough due to his age to match her speed.

Artemisa nipped at the side dragging her claws into the flesh of it’s as BlackOut watched looking for a opening to get her crushing jaws around his neck but the old bull was putting up a fight when he started to sway his tail letting out loud bellows knocking Calisto over causing her to let out a painful hiss as she hit the ground but got to her feet quickly.

Artemisa followed by nipping the bulls side again before seeing BlackOut who let out a loud roar and she bolted forwards clashing into the bull as she locked her jaws around his neck feeling her feet leave the ground as the bull lifted her weight and shook Blackout as hard as he could. They were doing well but Calisto and Artemisa would need to jump in and help their lead out.

“Attack his sides! Now you two” BlackOut hissed from her jaws as she held on feeling the blood drip down her throat, and at her word the two joined in with Artemisa and Calisto following what she had roared as they dug their teeth into the soft hide and skin on the bull. As the three held their ground with BlackOut making her grip as strong as she could the parasaur bull was getting tired as he dropped to the ground letting out silent bellows to his herd who had left him the face the wraith and hunger of the three young adolescents.

“ I think we got him! Good work Calisto and Blackout” Artemisa said in between catching her breath as the parasaur bull was slowly put out of his misery as he stopped struggling and BlackOut let go of her grip followed by Calisto who stepped back as the movement stopped. The three had done it, being so young and inexperienced they had only gotten minor bruises and cuts which would heal on their own.

Calisto smiled as she let out a roar of victory as she looked at the others and smiled, BlackOut nodded to the two as she laid down licking her wounds and being proud of their little pack and the hunt they had just done. It was now time to rest up and dig in!.
