Snow had coated the ground as the once rugged brown and green grass covered the island it was now snow and due to the drop in temperature a harsh snow storm had surged up causing those who were traveling to become lost and having to take cover. 

“Is there anywhere we can take cover from the storm! My scales are freezing” Calisto called out to BlackOut who was coated in snow as it clung to her thicker scale plating as she shook it from her and continued walking before speaking “I think we can find a cave ahead but we can’t travel for much longer it’s getting a lot worse” which she was met with a slippery area to walk as she fixed her footing “and be careful”

Artemisa was puffed up as her more of a winter coat blocked some of the wind as she dashed forwards passing BlackOut and Calisto who just shook their heads “Well I want to find somewhere to hunker down so let's get moving you two” the three were young only in their juvenile years of life so this wouldn’t be their first harsh snow storm. Not knowing what danger they were approaching they continued on when finally they spotted a cave that had small footprints leading to it, Calisto and BlackOut leaned down to sniff them but picked up nothing of concern.

“Seems like there is a cave this way Artemisa and Calisito but be on the lookout I spotted footprints something could be around” BlackOut said as she walked up to the dark cave opening that was coated in snow and ice and the wind that echoed past them, it wasn’t the ideal spot to hide away from the storm but they needed somewhere to stay so it would have to work.

Deep in the cave movement began to stir as an old horror who hid in wait from the storm had already claimed the cave and he was aware he had visitors but for now he laid dormant as the sound of skittering from a much smaller dinosaur echoed down the cave wanting to go explore the newcomers. Once inside BlackOut looked around the cave trying to figure out where the small footprints had come from but was pushed aside by Calisto and Artemisa who wanted out of the snow and shook off themselves.

“Finally a break from that storm, relax BlackOut it’s just an old cave” Calisto said as she moved further inside with Artemisa following behind, glad to be out of the cold. As the three settled down wanting to go deeper into the cave but Blackout was on edge but followed behind letting out an annoyed growl.

“We should be careful so keep an eye out, I mean it!” she hissed before hearing a small cryo who stood behind them letting out a chirp and a head tilt , it was Ceedri but to them a cave snack.

“Look! We can eat that thing, it probably was hiding from the storm as well” Calisto said as she licked her jaws stepping forwards to try and snap at Ceedri who hissed before rushing into the darkness but before Calisto could follow she was stopped in her tracks seeing soulless eyes peering into her soul from the darkness.

“I told you to be careful now look what we have to deal with Calisto!” BlackOut hissed standing beside her along with Artemisa who looked at the darkness only to mummer some words due to the fear that struck down harshly from the unknown figure. “Uh maybe we should find a new cave” she said slowly before puffing out her feathered fur.

From the darkness amerged a old and large styraco bull but something was different, it smelt of death and decay, Descole was a horror to cross paths with and the three young albertos would find themselves in the presence of a well known meat eater styraco. A loud bellow came from his throat as he charged forwards at the three who had little time to react as BlackOut took the harsh hit but was lucky enough for her to get hit in the thicker plating on her.

“What is that thing! Are you okay BlackOut!” Artemisa roared as she backed away letting out a hiss towards Descole who turned his attention to her looking at the young alberto with a scarred up face. Calisto moved quickly as she slammed into Artemisa who had froze in fear so she would move.

“RUN we need to get out of this cave now!, I would rather face the cold than that thing, whatever it is!” she hissed. BlackOut was up on her feet as she looked for the exit of the cave which was now blocked by Descole. 

Descole was ramping up an attack as he pawed at the ground giving off a harsh roar from the pit of his stomach… and with that he charged forwards towards BlackOut who had to think fast so she wouldn’t get crushed into oblivion by the large herbivore.

“Hey Ugly this way!, come on” BlackOut hissed before darting in the opposite direction seeing some long icicles on the ceiling of the cave attached to some rocks, and with a quick action she slammed herself against it making the icicles crash from the ceiling onto Descole who stopped when he felt the painful ice.

He was stopped for now and that was good enough for the three as BlackOut joined with Calisto and Artemisa who were gladly ready to leave.

“It’s time to go! Time to find a different spot this was nice while it lasted” she growled to the others before the three young albertos rushed out only to hear the loud horror filled bellows from Descole. It was a close call and crossing paths with literal death wasn’t on their to do list but least they survived the encounter with their tails intact. 

Ceedri watched as the three rushed off back into the storm only to give off a final hiss before making his way back into the cave.
