The snow months had come to the end and the ground had started to thaw with most dinosaurs now becoming more active as the warmer weather struck the island, and a small pack of utahraptors were on the move now being able to keep their footing making traveling and being out much more enjoyable.

“We are almost there, we must find soft ground to find the minerals and gems, if the ground is too hard we won’t be able to dig” said a large brown utah who kept her pace with two others behind her who went by the  name of Scorch and Eden. Sparrow had known the way to find gems and minerals after a harsh freeze when spring came around and she was teaching Scorch and Eden the ways of finding them.

As the group came to a stop Eden and Scorch had stopped when Sparrow froze before catching their breath “ Are you sure you remember where the place is Sparrow, I feel like we have been running for ages” Eden asked as her once pale scales were now covered in mud specks due to their fast pace moving.

“We are close I promise besides this isn’t even the worst of it, we still have to dig” Sparrow said giving out a chuckle as she looked back seeing Scorch catch up. “ Eden, Sparrow knows where she is going just have to be patient” as she fluffed her feathers out taking in the sun. continuing walking Sparrow led the way as the ground they were walking on was becoming softer by the second as Sparrow stopped sniffing around and smiled.

“Right here start digging, the ground is soft enough just be careful not to miss any of the gems or jewels that come up” as Sparrow began to dig up tossing dirt around, Eden and Scorch joining in as they each picked a spot to dig for the various minerals and Gems that were hidden under the ground. 

“ See Eden Patience, now get digging I am going to find more gems then you this time” Scorch said as she dug quickly, and now Eden getting in the mood to dig up gems and minerals but she wasn’t sure what she was looking for but she had Sparrow and Scorch to help her.

“Oh no you don’t I am going to find more” Eden said as she stopped digging once she felt her claws hit something sturdy “ I think I found one!” she barked out.

Sparrow turned her head as she looked at Eden who had found a large mineral rock that was shiny and she nodded in approval “ Good job! You did find one make a pile next to you” Sparrow said as she continued to dig herself waiting for Scorch to find herself one.

Scorch was next to find a gem that was purple as she inspected it before going back to digging, the group was starting to find more and more in the area they were digging. Sparrow had yet to find any but Eden and Scorch were doing a good job.

“I wonder if the ground is still to hard here” she said to herself as she decided to try a different spot maybe she would have better luck and oh boy she was right as she began to dig she felt her claws hit something hard and with quick digging she pulled out another gem which got her to give a smile, they all had now found something.

“Oh wow look at that gem Sparrow great find” Eden said as she stopped digging to count her gems she had found and after counting she decided to come help Sparrow with digging in the new and softer spot of dirt patch. Scorch was covered in dirt as she flung it around digging as deep as she could picking up any gems she could get her claws on not caring where the dirt was flying.

The utahraptors would keep them in their dens and use them as decoration or maybe trade with other dinosaurs who showed interest in them but that was the easy part, the hard part was finding them after the freeze but they seemed to be doing ok so far.

After a few more digging and pulling the group had decided it was time to take a break and look over their findings of the day, Sparrow was proud of the two as they looked over their findings with Eden and Scorch taking one gem they liked the most to keep for themselves the other minerals and gems were to be kept for trading and decorating. 

“What good findings today you two!, almost naturals we will have to come back once we are empty clawed again” Sparrow said.

Eden and Scorched nodded in agreement as the three gathered all they could and headed back off towards their den.
