The snow had melted and activity on the island had bloomed with most dinosaurs now exploring the island with the new spring weather and most were out to hunt and gather their barings again. Three small figures made their way through the thick forests with a dark scaled cryo in the lead who went by the name of Shale and behind him was Dune and Flint, the three had been sticking to their cave during the cold winter months but were now out stretching their legs but first on the trio’s mind was a nice drink from the rivers that ran through the large forests.

“Are we almost there yet Shale, I feel like we have seen the same tree for the fifth time already, I am thirsty cave water I can handle only so much of” the yellow scaled Cryo said who went by the name of Dune as she followed behind him closely. 

“ We are close, Dune now stop whining, do you ever shut up?” The last cryo snapped in annoyance who went by the name of Flint, the three were still in their younger years so bickerking did occur between them. Flint said as he walked past the two with Shale just shaking his head at the two, due to the thawing of the snow the rivers could be off course so Shale had to deal with trying to find their way but also listen to his packmates bicker.

Stepping forwards, Shale kept the lead as Flint and Dune followed as the sound of river water caught their attention. 

“You guys hear that, it’s close, come on” Shale said as he picked up his pace with Flint following closely but Dune taking her sweet time, coming to an opening as the river was vast and wide but something was off that Shale didn’t remember seeing before the snow hit. Bursting behind him came Flint and Dune who skidded to a stop also seeing the odd object that blocked a part of the river which stopped water from flowing. 

“What is that, I don’t remember sticks being put across the river and why is it so big?” Dune said as she squinted trying to make out where they came from, before she was shoved out of the way by Flint who wanted to see and investigate.

“Yeah what is that? Surely the large herbivores wouldn’t do that? Right Shale?” Flint said before looking at Shale who was also confused at the site but wanted to look further as he stepped forwards “Lets go check it out, It looks interesting” he said before taking off once more.

Dune and Flint followed as they approached the large stick and log pile, it looked like each log was placed with purpose and it was blocking the river water from running which was an odd site for the trio. As they climbed and crawled across the sturdy dam they investigated by sticking their snouts in places trying to find if something that had done this was around?

“I don’t see anything , do you guys?” Shale said looking over at Dune and Flint who shook their heads no which stumped Shale as he sighed looking around some more, Flint had gone off further to the otherside of the dam and noticed movement as he got closer before seeing a stick fly at him.

“OUCH that hurt what was that for!” Flint hissed as the stick had hit him in the face but stopped talking when he spotted a small critter with a flat tail who was carrying more sticks.

“WHAT IS THAT THING” he added before jumping back which had Dune and Shale rush over quickly to see what was wrong with Flint, before the two stopped seeing the creature.

“I think you found what made this thing, Why are you scared it’s so small Flint” Dune said as she looked at Flint who was rubbing his head where the stick had hit him, which she was met with a swift growl from Flint.

“It threw a stick at me” he said before growling towards the beaver who ignored the three carnivores and continued with adding more sticks to the dam it was working on, Flint was just in the way of it.

Shale let out a chuckle as he watched it with Dune, he was curious but didn’t want to approach the beaver as it showed that it could protect itself he was more curious as to what it was doing and why it was to the river.

Flint and Dune watched as well as the beaver moved back and forth placing sticks before heading off to find more.

“Can we just go drink now, I don’t want to get hit again” Flint said as he stood up before heading towards the otherside which Dune and Shale nodded in agreement as it was time to get their drink they were here for but spotting the dam was a nice thing to witness and also meeting the small critter that made such a large mass, but it was best to leave it alone for now.

Dune and Shale joined Flint in the fresh river drink before the three took one last look at the dam before heading off back into the forest.
