Tome Raider (April 2024) - 602: Cajun

Cajun was a traveling type of dinosaur. She mostly lived in Isla Kela, in Jungle Forest she knew. But she wanted to travel today. She knew that somewhere on Isla Kela was the remains of the Old Library. She wanted to see what was in there. Maybe she would also find her old childhood friend, Dullahan. At least she hoped so, but that was a chance of luck truly. There were two islands that she knew of, and a lot of terrain to cover. It wouldn’t be that easy, stumbling upon her lost childhood friend in an abandoned library.
Before the trip she ate well and layed for a good minute in a sun patch, looking at the clouds above her. She thought for a moment, wondering what she would find in the library. What shiny trinkets will she be able to find and steal, to show her friend and Dullahan if she will be able to find him? Oh she prayed there would be something cool to lay her claws upon! She really hoped there could be some cool trinkets to come back with, or cool critters to see. She knew that her adventure would be a marvelous one!
And so she traveled in the library's general direction, leaving her nest safe with Ammut, her other friend. Or maybe she was a bit closer to her than just a friend? But Cajun was lacking in the department of brain cells, so she did not want to think about this or care for that matter. She bid her farewells to Ammut and went away, looking for problems. Her travel was calm, but the moment she left jungle terrain, she felt a little shiver running down her spine. But it was a shiver of excitement and anticipation. She smiled from eye to eye and went with hops towards the coordinates of the Old Library she wanted to visit. After some hours of walking, some flowers picked up and eaten, dirt eaten too, she arrived at the Library. She was amazed by the looks of the abandoned building, gasping at the colored glass and the way it looked.
“OH, Ammut and Dullahan would love this!!” she screamed at the sky, shaking her tail behind her from side to side. That was the wags of joy and excitement. Because Cajun liked to wag her tail, like a silly dog. She acted like a silly dog too. She thought about her other, more recent friend too, Cory! She just now remembered she could take him with her to this trip, but oh well, she was at the target destination now already. She won’t come back just to pick up her friend! She was laser focused now on the Library and treasure she could find inside. So without waiting she barged inside, taking in every sight she could take. Truly a pity that dinosaurs couldn’t take photos, they didn’t have thumbs and couldn’t hold the camera. Anyway, she ventured into the library, gasping from excitement and delight.
The colorful patches of light reflections from colored glass were dancing on the floor, making a beautiful kaleidoscope below the Cajun’s foot, for her to admire. She laughed and giggled looking at it and looking around. Colorful light reflections also danced at the walls, Cajun could swear she heard them giggling. Dark green Cryolophosaurus was looking around looking for treasure and glowy trinkets. She spotted a gold, big globe that had Utah’s teeth marks on it. She giggled. She imagined Dullahan chomping down on the globe. She knew he wouldn’t do it, but it still would be funny to see. She marched onward, looking for cool stuff around. Some gold scattered on the floor, there was some paper scattered on the wooden and mossy floor. Some planks were creaking under her pressure and that made poor green based Cryolophosaurus jump in shock. And sometimes the planks were wet and covered in mold from all the rain coming from the holes in the ceiling and roof. She looked up, straight into the sky. The sun was coming from the holes, beautifully brightening the room. There was glittering dust visible in the sun's callouts. She smiled a little. She kept walking in the library, looking around. She spotted a nice, orange book. On it there was some glittery writing, on the cover and the spine. If Cajun could read she would read “Title of the Book”. Truly, the author of the book wasn’t the most creative one. She glanced at the book for a bit and came closer to it, sniffing it. It smelled like dust and old things. After taking a good whiff of the book, poor Cajun coughed and sneezed, shaking her head a bit. As punishment for the book she clawed it and shredded the paper, then walked away.
But there was something more shiny! Another book, but this time with a mysterious name, “The Lore and Truths of the World”. Something was calling to Cajun with this one! She closed in and sniffed this one too. It smelled nice. Almost fresh! Wildly standing out like a sore thumb in this library. So Cajun did something only Cajun could do…
She gobbled it up. Like a pelican.
…because that’s Cajun for you.
She smacked her lips and looked around, behaving like nothing happened. With a smile on her muzzle she noticed a very pretty, green gem. Or at least it looked like a gem to her! Pretty rock. She thought about Ammut, when she saw this one and decided to take it home with her. She knew Ammut would love it! And if she found a similar, pretty looking rock, or gem whatever you want to call it, she would take it to their nest too! So she took it, looking around first to see if somebody was watching her and wanted to steal her gem. But there was nobody, so she was at ease. She smiled, took some gold that was scattered on the floor and decided to go home. She couldn’t wait to talk to Ammut about the findings and what she saw! Oooh, she knew Ammut would envy her for not going with her. But that was her choice! At least Cajun had some trinkets for her!
