The movement of thundering hooves slammed against the ground as many figures all squished together moved through a narrow passageway in the dusted desert canyons, it was the large parasaur herd that called the island home and they were on the move for food as the forest was no longer safe for the now juveniles who had grown from being hatchlings. Amongst the herd was a well known dull parasaur by the name of Magpie he was now grown and much larger following behind his mother , they were moving with the herd off to find a good food source and they were on their way along with it being Magpies first a long distance walk from where he was born from.

“Mom are we ever going to get there I feel like we have been walking for ages” Magpie said mumbling , he watched many other young parasaur from his herd run by laughing and frockling but that wasn’t his thing and being made fun of being dull wasn’t his favorite thing to do. The young parasaurs needed to learn the pathways to food and where water was when traveling as they got older especially if there were droughts , it wasn’t the easiest way of living to learn but it was one that was needed. Magpie’s mother sighed “No Magpie we aren’t there yet you need to take this seriously , it is important information for you to learn” she said scolding the young male. His mother had been taught these well known pathways when she was young when she had to walk them and teaching her son was important to her even if he didn’t like it and complained the entire time.

“Why don’t you go with the others and play it’ll pass time faster!” she said to him, nudging him forwards softly. Magpie looked forwards as he skidded from his mother pushing him as he laughed awkwardly looking at the other young parasaur who gave him an unsure look. One approached him with a friendly smile and laughed “My name is Jaeger you can walk with me” he said standing beside Magpie nudging him playfully “I am trying to remember all the winding pathways as we walk” he added before trotting ahead. Magpie had seen Jaeger around mostly with his mom as she was the one who led the herd mostly so maybe learning from him wouldn’t hurt as he rolled his eyes and followed Jaeger who honked in excitement when he saw Magpie follow him.

“So how hard is it to remember all these area’s everything looks the same” Magpie said as him and Jaeger walked beside the herd now coming out into the open seeing large trees that coated the land that they were about to travel through, he seemed confused by how everything looked the same and couldn’t figure out how Jaeger could remember all the pathways and what to look for. Jaeger looked at Magpie and laughed a bit before letting out a long sigh, he was ready to explain it to the unknowing parasaur and there was a lot to say.

“Well my mom knows alot about the pathways she was taught by her mother long ago!, she always teaches me so I would never get lost” he said before walking ahead to a large tree stump that once sprouted tall but now was just a stump. Magpie followed behind and watched Jaeger who seemed to know alot about it but still with a confused face.

“This tree stump is a landmark that never moves so it's a good point to remember in this area,” Jaeger said as he looked at it before walking ahead of Magpie pointing out more things. Man did Jaeger talk alot but Magpie rolled with the rambling young buck as it was his first real friend in the herd the rest of the juveniles always made fun of him but Jaeger didn’t seem to care all too much which was a nice change for once. As the two continued walking just behind their mothers they conversed about their hatch day and what they had experienced so far in life, Jaeger seemed to not go too far from his mother so he was a little timid but the two were forming a friendship which was good for the both of them.

Magpie’s mother watched from a distance with a smile across her bill, her son finally found a friend in the herd. Maybe this way he wouldn’t be so miserable and become outgoing like she hoped for. So this was a good thing for him and it seemed like Jaeger also was a bit of an outcast , as the herd stopped for a rest from their travels.

Magpie and Jaeger were laughing and playing around as they trotted past the various herd members , before stopping at the small river they were taking a rest by with Magpie smiling. “ Look it’s water , it is so clear Jaeger'' he said walking to the river's edge putting his front limbs in the water. Jaeger trotted over and smiled before splashing Magpie playfully with the two juveniles laughing at each other as they played in the river water splashing and jumping. The two eventually tiring out as Magpie followed Jaeger back towards their mothers who were resting with one another, the two females smiling watching their sons enjoy eachothers company .

“Ah boys coming back to rest?” Jaeger's mom said to her son and watched Magpie behind him with a soft smile “oh and who’s your friend its Magpie? Right?” she said as Jaeger laid down next to her “It is Magpie , we have been hanging out as we walked” he said with a smile.

Magpie bowed in respectful way towards her and joined his mother who was also beside them, “I was learning from Jaeger about tips for traveling and we played in the river!” he said to her as he let her clean him “but we got tired so we came to rest with you” , his mother letting off a smile “well I am glad you guys are getting along and learning lots you will need it once you get older!” from there the two got their well needed rest as their mothers watched over them.

Meeting Jaeger was helping Magpie as he hadn’t really enjoyed being a young parasaur , so little did he know he was making a great friendship over the next few days of traveling. Magpie and Jaeger continued to talk and converse with each telling each other the many stories and tips they both knew.

“Jaeger we should walk together tomorrow, that was fun today and I want to learn more about tips of traveling” he called over to him as they giggled once more with Jaeger nodding in agreement.

“I am so ready for that, it would be super fun and I like spending time with you walking is a lot less boring” Jaeger added , as both of their mothers quieted them as it was time to rest for the next big travel they would have to do in the hours to come. With that a new friendship had blossomed between the two as they would continue to build their friendship and bond, Magpie looked at Jaeger as he gave off another smile of being content he couldn’t wait for tomorrow and the many more adventures the two would be going on as they grew. Magpie let out a yawn as he shook his head from the dust before cuddling into his mother, maybe crossing paths with Jaeger was all he needed to finally fit in.

A few hours later the herd let out a loud rumbling noise to get moving again, as Magpie felt his mother move and stand it was time to go and as he opened his eyes the excited face of his new friend awaited.

“Come on! We gotta get moving, I got lots to show you!” he added before nudging Magpie playfully before running ahead with Magpie getting up and shaking himself off before giggling the herd was on the move again which meant more adventures for the new found friends. Magpie looked at his mother with a smile as he got the go ahead to follow behind Jaeger.

“Just stay close!” She called out to Magpie who was already caught up, the two walked and stopped looking at their surroundings with Jaeger showing and explaining more to Magpie who was listening very carefully. Crossing paths was always a good thing for dinosaurs, sometimes it was a harsh lesson but other times it was a blessing to them, and for Magpie it was a blessing it seemed and he needed it badly. Magpie chatted with Jaeger as more giggling could be heard as older parasaurs watched them and sighed due to the loudness from them but they didn’t care as the two boys were having fun. Friendship was growing and it was going at a good pace which was all that was on Magpies and Jaegers minds for now.
