Birds chirped as they flew through the large tree’s of the forest , with the sound of footsteps on the soft mud due to rainfall that had happened the night before. As tired eyes opened slowly while Jaeger’s head swayed back and forth the rain had not let him sleep the night before and his scales were still wet as he let out a sigh with a yawn. Jaeger had stuck behind with his normal herd but had wandered off prior so he was on his own trying to catch up to them as they weren’t too far but doing so while tired wasn’t helping him out too much

“Damn with that rain I didn’t get any sleep and now i'm behind” he mumbled to himself as he stretched out his neck before looking down to follow the footprints from his herd trying to stay on track on where he was going, but being alone and not in a herd was a dangerous game for a young adult parasaur but Jaeger was filled with the “it wouldn’t happen to me” attitude so he kept walking not paying attention to his surroundings. The sound of his herd could be heard as it rumbled and echoed through the forest , which made Jaeger trott slightly as the slower he was the further he would get away from them.

“Guess I should hurry up, it seems like they are moving fast and I should get back, who knows what is lurking out here” he said as he looked around pushing through a dense forested area that had signs of his herd had gone through. Letting out groans and annoyed snorts as he pushed past scratchy twigs and plants as he stomped his feet from annoyance looking around as he shook his horn letting out a loud call but no answer was returned to him “well that was no use, how far did they get from here” Jaeger said to himself as he looked up in the sky as the hot sun beat down on his scales.

The young adult parasaur kept walking, following and stopping to make sure he could see the leftover footprints as he walked , he was on their tracks but it was a far way to go and little did Jaeger know he was being followed but by what? 

Orange eyes honed in on the pale and brown scales of Jaeger as large jaws were licked with a tongue followed by low hisses, a carnivore and a big one too. It had been following the parasaur herd for days now, biding her time as she watched from afar and moved with them when they wandered onto the next spot. Little did Jaeger know that he was being hunted and was on the meal for this large carnivore but she was growing impatient and soon would strike but when?

As Jaeger kept moving he let out mumbles kicking at rocks and other pebbles on the ground as he heard a large snap from in the teers to his right, throwing his head up quickly and staring where the sound had come from “Who’s there” Jaeger said stumbling on his words as he looked at the area seeing tree’s and hearing cracking sounds of branches being crushed under a heavy weight. Jaeger was in danger and it was about to show itself to him, as he stood waiting to see what was coming through the forest as he backed up his heart beating in his chest should he run? What if it was just another herbivore but something was telling him he should run but being young and dumb was overtaking it.

A large pair of jaws let out a loud roar as Khanivore burst through the trees out at Jaeger her orange eyes locked onto him as he let out a loud scared honk , trying to get his footing under him. It was a carnivore and a large one Jaeger was in danger as his instincts took over pushing him to run the opposite way from the large carnivore who was now hunting him.

“C..c carnivore!” left his bill as he took off hearing the loud footing crushing behind him, Khanivore was hot on his tail as she tried to push Jaeger off the pathway followed by snapping of her large jaws. Jaeger was a bit faster then her but she was catching up as he looked around letting out a loud honk trying to find the herd where it was safe but he was thrown off by the ambush attack he had no idea where he was going now, there were no footprints or anything familiar around. It was just him and Khanivore and little did he know in his panic he was backing himself against a cliff with the way he was running.

“I need to find a way out, But i don’t remember where I am,” he said to himself panicked , coming to a halt as he stopped before a large cliff that was not far of a drop from the river below but the rushing water was what lay in wait at the bottom. Jaeger was cornered as he backed towards the cliff seeing the large face of Khanivore letting out a roar as she rushed towards him snapping but backing up when Jaeger reared up and kicked with his front legs and snorting, his instincts had taken over and he was in a fight for his life. 

“I can maybe throw her off into the water.. If I side step..” Jaeger said as he kicked and stomped his front legs keeping Khanivore at bay as she was aware that a kick from a parasaur could do damage. The two moved with each other as Khanivore went for a bite on Jaeger which Jaeger stepped back before shoving against her starting to push her towards the cliff as he kept his head away from her large jaws as she snapped at him.

The two shoved against one another as Khanivore got closer and closer to the cliff with Jaeger pushing against her with all his might, with one more shove he pushed her off balanced towards the cliff edge. 

“ I gotta shove her again, but my body is getting tired” he mumbled to himself as he backed up to throw her off, but Khanivore was a lot faster than him. Feeling a sharp pain in his neck followed by the wet feeling of blood as it ran down his neck. She had landed a hit and a dangerous one , as Jaeger let out a honk in pain before narrowing his eyes as he let out a snort before pushing forwards with Khanivore losing her footing as she hung off the cliff side. With one final rearing from Jaeger he kicked Khanivore in the face as she let out a roar, letting go hearing a loud splash in the water below as Jaeger backed up collapsing under his weight due to his body being tired with him breathing heavily. His survival instincts had helped him and gotten him through the fight of his life as he soon stood after resting before looking down in the river below not seeing Khanivore anymore.

“ That was close, way too close but I am alive” Jaeger mumbled to himself as he shook his neck feeling the surge of pain now hitting him due to his adrenaline waring off, he was now feeling the full pain effect from the nasty bite she had landed on him. “I need to get back to my herd” he said through painful words, shaking himself out as he started down the pathway he had been chased from as he sniffed the ground seeing more footprints that weren’t his, he was on the right track as a blood trail dripped behind him. Jaeger had survived an encounter with a large carnivore and lived to tell the tale, not many were lucky to do so and learned a lesson as to why a herd was important and not to lag behind.

Hearing a loud roar from his herd as it echoed through the air , Jaeger's head perked up as He let out one back. It was his herd and he had found his way back to them now spotting a harsh bite on his neck but in one piece , stumbling with a sore wound he made his way to his herd before looking back at the area where they had fought. As he let out a sigh of being content “well that was a first, but I think I will stick with the herd from now on” he mumbled to himself before coming out into an opening where his herd was now reunited as others came to welcome him concerned about his wounds and where he had been. He was now sage once again within the numbers of his herd, laying down in the soft grass as he looked around always remembering the fight with Khanivore as a reminder that being alone wasn’t safe.
