The sound of harsh rain pelted the island and many ran for cover to avoid being soaked with most dinosaurs staying close to their dens, and or homes but not all could be as lucky with one Utah in particular.  The color of white scales flashed as she dashed through the forest looking for cover but she was out of luck, drenched in water she shook her head to clear the pools that she formed behind her scales off of her so she could see better through the rain that continued to fall. 

“ ugh this rain is so thick I can’t even see anymore” Eden growled under her breath as she shook off more water from her scales trying to get a clear view of where she was but it was not use, “ it also doesn’t help I lost Otachi due to the rain , I swear he always runs off” she added before jumping up onto a log that had been a fallen tree for some time. Eden looked around briefly before jumping back down as the dirt in the forest had turned to mud making it splash everywhere dirtying her white scales, she also seemed to have gone off the wrong way from where she had originally wanted to go, so wandering around until she could find some shelter was the best bet for the young adult utahraptor.

As she continued to walk, she was lost in her thoughts going over how she had never had this harsh storm in her life yet. Eden had seen and experienced rain before on the island. It was common but nothing like this , it was a first and an annoying first along with never understanding why dinosaurs always moved away from the water when it got this bad but it was starting to make sense. Eden had been away from her pack for awhile now as soon as she grew into her young adult years and had been traveling with Otachi ever since as he taught her the ways and ins and outs of being a utahraptor sometimes even getting the two in trouble but she loved the adventures they shared.

They were traveling around looking to hunt when the rain had started and got split due to a large group of herbivores moving through the forest who were taking cover  to avoid the harsh pelting rain. Eden kept moving, trying to stay within the trees following the now muddy pathway and calling out for Otachi hoping he would be nearby “ Otachi, are you here? I lost you” but no answer as she kept going a large rocky wall came into view as she stuck close to it , allowing some shelter. With the rain still most dinosaurs wanted to avoid it the best they could but some used the harsh weather conditions as a tactic to hunt and little did Eden know something was on her trail and it was big. As the rain continued a red face appeared through the bushes sniffing the footprints left behind from the young adult utahraptor , taking in a big whiff before snorting it out his ice cold eyes turning into slits once he had her tracked and was getting closer and closer his large movements carrying him fast.

Eden soon stopped as she let out a sigh of the rain not letting up as she entered a more forested area which made her vision worse , calling out for Otachi once more “ Otachi this isn’t funny where are you , I can’t see anything this stupid.. Rain” before she could get her sentence off a large force hit into her causing her to be thrown into a large tree trunk pain going through her body as she let out a hiss of pain soon coming to seeing a large figure followed by a flash of red feathers  followed by a white face that housed large jaws with a sinister smile. Her eyes widened before looking up at the large predator, it was a cryolophosaurus and a well known hunter , he had been following her tracking with every step and using the rain as cover but now she was face to face with a threat that could change the very existence of life or death for the young utahraptor.

The thoughts raced in her head as she got to her feet letting out a frightened hiss as she dodged another snap pushing down Riot’s mouth to the ground as he snapped the tree in half causing it to fall loudly sending wet twigs and grass everywhere. Growls and hisses could be heard loudly as Eden darted and dodged through the woods with Riot in chase behind her. She had never fought against another predator and all she knew how to do was run, the pain was surging through her scales from the hard hit Riot had gotten on her and she couldn’t think about where Otachi had gone off to all she could feel was pain and numbness from the rain but her feet kept her upright as she used the thick foliage to keep ahead of Riot who was much larger and was smashing through trees knocking them over.

“I need to keep going, don’t give up Eden you can beat it” she mumbled to herself looking for ideas as she kept running trying to drown out the loud roars from Riot. The rain was starting to clear as Eden rushed out into an opening , it was a large log across an opening over a large river. This was her chance to outwit the large predator who wasn’t as agile as she was, Riot skidded to a stop as Eden stumbled across the large log stopping in the middle as she snarled at Riot wanting to get him to follow her across, almost mocking him.

Riot let out a large hiss before stepping forward onto the log as it made noises due to his weight and size, Eden narrowed her eyes with a grin that came across her jaws “ Yeah! Over here you overgrown chicken, keep walking” she called out taunting him and it was working on the large carnivore who was walking further and further onto the large log as it cracked under the pressure of the weight. With one leap Eden let her weight off the branch before jumping to the otherside which caused Riot to lunge forwards to try and get her but the log gave out from under him. With a large splash Riot was lost into the river below as he let out a roar before getting out on the river bank looking up at Eden with narrowed eyes still next time…

Eden watched the large predator leave as she let out a sigh of relief before rolling on her side letting out a bark of pain as she stumbled to her feet shaking out the water from her scales, as she looked up the rain had stopped slightly calming. Hearing the well known bark of Otachi off in the distance and him calling , “Eden! Eden” he called out looking around for her. She called out to him before seeing him rush over, as she held her leg up that was sore. “ What happened to you, you look rough” he said to her letting out a laugh as Eden had looked back at the log before shaking her head and brushing it off “ nothing I just slipped and hurt my leg in the rain I am fine” she said letting out a slight laugh. The two rubbed up against each other before walking off towards a dryer area. Eden looked back once more before following Otachi as she shook off the harsh experience she just had gone through but it was a learning lesson for the young adult utahraptor that even being smaller you still have a chance against a much larger predator even if the odds were stacked against you. 

“ Let's never stay out in the rain again Otachi and don’t run off next time” she said mumbling “it's dangerous” before continuing on walking enjoying the much warmer weather as it began to dry their scales. Eden learned a valuable lesson of combat and how to always be aware of your surroundings as there is always a bunch more and much larger predators on the island then her, and a solo utah was a dead utah they were much stronger in a pack and straying to far from your friends or packmates could mean life or death on the island.

“Otachi.. Could we travel together? I think it would be a lot safer than being alone” she asked before stopping as she awaited an answer from her armored friend, as he turned around giving her a large smile across his jaws “I’d love too!” he said to her “Well let's go! We have adventures to go on well when you feel better” he said.

Eden gave a smile and sighed before limping towards him excited , looking once more as she heard the chilling roars from Riot and the remembering of how she bested him would stick with her as she grew.
