Berenger and Lewis- Shark Hunting
Sharks didn't come close to the island he lived on. At least he hadn't encountered them. But he was too small to be trying to catch sharks. But the moment the green suchomimus saw the flat headed shark species, he couldn't believe how flat the heads on these fish were. Perching himself on a rock, he watched some of the nearby adults go fishing. They were experienced at this kind of thing, anyway. His little eyes peeled curiously at a nearby purple colored male, Lewis, dipping his claws into the water, his snout pointed towards the waves, nodding his head along to the tides bobbing in and out of sea. Berenger wasn't sure what the other male was trying to do, because he had never seen any other suchomimus try this behavior before. But before our youngin could chirp up a question, a loud splash echoed the area, with the older male thrusting his head up and showing a medium sized hammerhead. Water rained down from his catch before the adult walked away. Berenger caught his little head towards one of the tidal pools nearby, gazing down at what could be lurking underneath. After all that was one of the rules taught to him to be weary of. You never knew what would be in those pools. But to his amazement, a baby hammerhead shark, smaller than him, was going after some of the tidal pool fish, snatching up some of the minnow sized fish before prowling in a circle to find more of the mouth sized snacks. He squinted his green eyes at his target, wiggling his little tail and launched himself into the water. His mouth filled with briny water, his small frame sitting in the tidal pool with the shark now long gone at his failed attempt. The larger male from earlier, Lewis, heard the splashing from the tidal pool, raising his head from the quick snack he had just gathered to feed himself with. He had suspected another shark was hunting in the pools and trotted over to investigate, letting out a snort of amusement at the younger Berenger. He took a few easy steps towards him, with Berenger crying in his frustration of losing his prey in the failed hunt he had just performed. “ C'mere little one, enough of that crying. Stand up. I’ll show you the way of getting these treats.” Lewis said in a hushed tone, gently offering a nuzzle onto Berenger’s head, comforting the small chick. Berenger gave a faint sniffle, looking up at Lewis, leaning into the nuzzle and standing up on his feet, shaking water from his pelt. “ O-okay.”, Berenger chirped up at the adult, smiling up at him. He was eager to learn how to get the awesome treats from the sea! And no better dinosaur than his fellow suchomimus Lewis! After all he was one of the coolest in the bask. “ Now watch me, Berenger. And follow my steps afterwards. Got it?” “Got it!” “ Alright, let’s go.” Lewis nodded to motion for Beranger to follow him, with Berenger following with a happy skip to his steps. The older of the two returned back to his fishing spot, stopping to wait on Berenger to catch up and returned to his fishing stance, long snout dipping into the water and claws disappearing among the waves. Berenger watched closely, barely keeping his small frame afloat in the heavy waves. Lewis searched the waters carefully and cautiously, using his snout to try and pick up the movement of the shares lurking around. The waters had been turned from clear to murkiness since the hunting of the sharks began, making it a little more difficult to try and snag a shark by sight. Berenger crept deeper into the water, mimicking Lewis, hoping he too could get himself a shark of his own. A large splash happened and Berenger got his leg snagged by the sharp teeth of a hammerhead that had mistaken him for prey. The young male cried for help, Lewis coming to help him in swift aid. ANother splashed happened and the both of them sank into the raging water, slowly growing clouded by the small amount of blood that came from a bite wound on Berenger’s leg. Lewis had the shark pinned in the shallow water, using his teeth and claws to fight off the large fish to help Berenger escape the jaws of the hammerhead. The green suchomimius screeched and howled in pain, clawing and kicking at his attack that had grabbed him on the upper ankle part of his leg, trying to drag and swim away with him. But Lewis kept a hold of the hammerhead. This hammerhead was big, strong enough to fight off Lewis in its effort to try and prey upon Berenger. THe water turned like kool aid, bright red from the blood of both Berenger and the shark. He was starting to feel dizzy, ready to pass out before Lewis threw his head back in a rage, throwing the shark and Berenger into the air. The shark flailed about, with Berenger still hanging from its jaws. The shark and the young male fell to the ground with a loud thud, the shark gasping for water, letting go of its grip on Berenger. Lewis ran towards Berenger, nudging him out of the way before going to finish off the flailing shark with a wide bite to the gills, shredding flesh and bleeding the shark out on the sandy beach. The commotion brought more of the bask to see the spectacle, some even cheering on Lewis for bringing in such a hale. Berenger continued to fill dizzy and eventually fell face first into the ground, taking a quick nap. Some hours later, many of the bask members were gathered around to feast on the large shark, Lewis was cradling Berenger, attending to his wounds, making sure they were healing after all that went down. Berenger woke with a startled look up at Lewis, only followed by a faint hushing and cradling further. “ You need your rest buddy. You did good today.” Berenger beamed up at the purple male, slowly drifting back to his labyrinth of a restful nap.
