Rain poured down on the island as a dark figure made its way down the beach, his weight crushing footprints into the soft sand. The island had been showered with rain for the past few days as most stayed in cover to avoid getting soaked while others who enjoyed the rain stayed out and that included Shale. His white scales dripped with rain as his dark figure kept him hidden due to blending in with the dark clouds that surrounded the island. Shale wasn’t one for hot weather but when it came to rain and sleet he was always out and what a good day to walk the beach in the weather he loved, although the waves and water had moved further up with the incoming tide so the water was alo closer than usual.

“The water is a lot closer than usual but it should be fine, it's too shallow anyways for anything to come up” he mumbled through his jaws before keeping his head low feeling the rain drip off his crest. With the rain now picking up he moved a bit faster with the footprints left behind quickly erased away due to the rain.

Shale hadn’t been down to the beach in awhile so it was a nice change of scenery for the dark carnivore, although with each step he took the deeper the water got due to the tide being up further because of the weather but he paid no mind to it. Being oblivious to his surroundings he didn’t notice a board headed figure with a large fin coasting the shore close to where he was walking, it was a hammerhead that was biding its time waiting to strike the oblivious Shale.

Shale stopped for a second as the wind had picked up making a shiver run up his scales as he scanned the area around him, his eye picking up something shiny in the sand below the water but it was in the deeper end of where he was standing.

“I wonder what that is, it’s a little deep for my liking but it seems like nothing is around and besides it's shallow right?” Shale said to himself as he took a few steps forwards seeing the water move up his legs further, the allure of the item beating the young cryo’s curiosity. With a few more steps Shale moved deeper into the water as he looked around for the object spotting it with his eyes, his scales becoming cold due to the water.

“Almost there Shale, just a little further!” He mumbled to himself as he put his snout in the water, closing his eyes as the water covered his face, not knowing the danger that lurked beside him. With a large splash thrown at Shale he caught a glimpse of the board headed shark which was a large hammerhead, he was in danger and it wasn’t looking good.

Shale let out a loud screech of terror as he stepped backwards falling in the water but looking to get up as the hammerhead was already back and ready for a bite on the cryo, but it had missed with Shale stepping up before it could get to him.

“Land I need land, the water it's in the water” Shale said panicked as he turned to hightail it out of the water with the hammerhead straight behind him, but the deeper water was slowing Shale down. Using all his might Shale pressed forwards through the rough waves that slammed into him, there was no looking back to see the large shark that was attacking him.

The hammerhead was closing in but stopped as it was now too shallow for it to strike Shale who was drenched in water from head to toe, panting as he landed on the wet sand trying to catch his breath. With the hunt failed it patrolled the water waiting for Shale to come back in the water but after a while it had gotten bored and swam off.

Shale had gotten his feet underneath him after catching his breath, taking a look back at the water seeing the hammerheads fin disappear.

“That was not a reef shark, it was huge and its head looked odd” Shale said trying to catch his breath after the scary encounter, picking himself up and moving away from the water and deciding maybe it was time to leave since the weather was getting worse with the rain hitting hard on his scales.

The young cryo moved up into the forest taking one more look back at the dark water and shuddering with the encounter fresh in his mind, the new type of shark did not mess around and made reef sharks look small. Shale turned around before disappearing into the forest to take some cover from the rain.
