Life’s a Beach - (Summer Seasonal 2024)- Henrietta

In the late afternoon many of the island's herds were moving through the forest, many of them grazing and eating from the forest floor not too far from the island's beach. The sound of a much larger rumbling moving through the tree’s followed by large plates that clacked when the herbivore moved, it was Henrietta, a large female Dacentrurus, who was following behind the small herds of many herbivores and she was enjoying the day foraging. But the large lumbering herbivore had some other plans than just staying in the forest. She was on her way to the beach to spend some time there for the day, plus it was good for her plates to get some sun every once in a while.

As she made her way through the foliage her dark green feathers stood out in the vibrant sand, as Henrietta walked onto the sand her weight pushed it through her toes. The large herbivore didn’t spend much time down at the beach but today she felt like it would be a good day to do so with all the heat making the forest muggy and hot.

“Ah what a lovely day to spend at the beach, and escape that muggy forest” she said happily with her tail swinging behind her, as Henrietta stopped and stood in the sand she watched the waves come in from the tide. It was time for the big girl to get her sunbathing and time in the sand, she moved forwards walking down the beach leaving footprints behind her as she wandered around looking at all the small creatures that called the sandy beach their home.

Henrietta looked around as she walked finding a few large stones that laid in the sand

“This looks like a good spot to get some sun in” She mumbled to herself , with a big thud Henrietta laid down in the sand. Her tail swayed back and forth as she leaned into the warm sediment with the sun on her plates, making honking noises of glee. She was one happy Dacentrurus.

After a while Henrietta shook off the sand from her feathers before sitting up and letting out a large yawn, the large female herbivore before getting up onto her feet. She wanted to head for a cool down in the waves, wandering on over she took in the scenery shaking her plates off a few times as she lumbered over to the water that was a vibrant blue.

Henrietta finally got into the water feeling the waves dampened her feathers as she let out a content sigh of relief from the heat, she didn’t get out to the beach much but this was a treat to the large herbivore. Usually staying in the forests to forage she never came out to the beach as she had no reason to be out here during it not being hot on the island.

“The water is beautiful today!” she called out before splashing her tail around behind her as she watched the waves come in from the ocean. Henrietta couldn’t help but notice all the pretty stones that laid in the sand below the water, stepping over them carefully. The beaches had so many pretty things that the forest didn’t and the large herbivore loved seeing the pure beauty that the island could create all by itself.

As she continued to enjoy the water she shook off the water that drenched her feathers, it was good to soak every once in a while which Henrietta needed from all the traveling she had been doing.

But there was one thing she couldn’t forget, it was one of the main reasons why she had traveled down here in the first place. The beach provided luscious fruit that grew nowhere else on the island, lumbering out of the water shaking her feathers out once more before looking at to see various palm trees that hung with coconuts.

“ I haven’t had one of those since I was a wee hatchling” she said to herself letting off a surprised expression from her face, Henrietta making her way over, soon turning around with her large tail. Preparing to hit the base of the palm tree to knock down some of the coconuts so she could enjoy one.

“ one , two , and three!” She honked out before slamming her tail against the base causing the coconuts to fall into the sand. She had done it and it was now time to enjoy her snack , besides being older it took it out of her to swing her tail like that.

She walked over to the coconut that was cracked due to the fall and pressed her foot down using her weight to crack it open, and with a short crack it was open.

Taking a seat she leaned down licking up the juices and smiled looking up into the sun. It would not be long until she would head back to the forest but for now the beach is where she was enjoying her time
