The tides were high and with that came large waves followed by extreme hot weather, while others disliked the overly hot weather; others used it as an excuse to get out of their caves, and other homes. Deaglan, a large brown sucho with blue eyes would leave his swampy home to move to the much sandier beaches and hot weather to hunt for some prey that he loved but didn’t get to have often. As the island was taken over by the hot weather it brought in many different species that would travel during this time and that included the much bigger and larger hammerheads that would rest in the shallows of the oceans off the island.
Deaglan had been traveling over the past few days moving from the swamp he called home to be able to hunt these large sharks and he was awaiting the perfect time as he sat down in the sand on the beach blending in due to his brown scales, ice blue eyes scanning every movement he could spot on the beach. The large sucho was waiting for the sun to go down as that's when the hammerheads came into rest after swimming all day and it would be easier catching the large sharks as hunting them came with great risk, Deaglan knew that from prior experiences bearing the scars from hunts that went wrong.
Lifting his head he watched the skies turn a tad darker as dawn hit the island with the now hot temperatures cooling down, it was time to strike as he stood up from the sand keeping his claws close to his body as he walked towards the shallow tide pools watching the waves calm.
With meaningful strides Deaglan entered the water as he kept his eyes on the waves looking for any movement or fins he could see, the hammerheads were quick to scare off with one wrong move so being a master at patience was key in hunting them. A few hammerheads were resting off the bottom of the ocean as Deaglan crept closer, stopping with every step to make sure he wouldn’t make noise or ripples in the still water he was getting in striking distance.
Keeping his jaws closed he leaned down towards the water his eyes pinned on a medium sized hammerhead who was resting near some rocks unaware of the large carnivore that was hunting it, Deaglan had closed the distance and now the time to strike was the next step, hammerheads skin was leathery and it was hard to keep ahold of them due to being slippery so one wrong move and he would lose it.
With a quick step and claws at the ready, Deaglan jumped on top of the hammerhead , using his jaws to lock its head down as he slashed down its back, his claws locking in the thick hide just above the fin. The hammerhead started to thrash as it slapped the sucho with its powerful tail but it couldn’t shake off Deaglan who was experienced in hunting this shark species. As Deaglan held on he moved his jaws for a more firm bite which caused the shark to get away slightly as it made its way to deeper water with him still on top of it due to his claws being stuck in its thick skin.
If the shark had made it to the deeper water he could lose it as Hammerheads were quick swimmers and it would get away from him, moving his jaws he tried to get a clean bite on the head once more. Using all his might he pulled the shark back using his claws to drag it back into the shallow area as water went everywhere splashing him.
“Your a fighter , I’ll make this quick” he growled from his jaws as he drug it back further trying to turn it on its back to deliver a killing bite to the soft underside of the hammerhead, Deaglan never had this much of a issue trying to kill one but this one was putting up a fight but he was enjoying it. Digging his claws deep into the hammerhead he dragged it onto its back stepping on the tail so it wouldn’t move anymore. With one more reposition of his jaws Deaglan slammed them down onto the shark's soft underside until it stopped moving the taste of blood coating his tongue.
Stepping back he let go of the shark shaking off the water from his scales, his ice blue eyes scanning the kill he had made. It was a successful hunt and he would now enjoy the juicy meat these large sharks provided, a good meal worth the wait and patience and over the next few days Deaglan would hunt over hundreds of sharks while he could until next year.

love the hammerhead migration being used as a returning, large food source! it'd definitely be a treat worth leaving home for to get at a seasonal all-you-can-eat buffet 😂
ty for this!
