Ocean waves crashed against the rocks that littered the shoreline, with the sound of tropeognathus in the distance squawking as they flew above the vast blue water catching fish and cooling off from the summer heat. A large carno trotted down the beach leaving large footprints in the sand, she was a large female that went by the name of Frogspawn and she was on the hunt as feeding herself was a big task. Her sandy underbelly scales helped her blend into the sandy environment around her with ease, Frogspawn hadn’t eaten in days so she was eager to find something and the beaches provided prey of all types. She had been staying near the beaches in the recent days as she had caught wind of a new type of shark that was coasting the islands figuring they would provide a good food source she was on the hunt, but the one thing the large female carno had was that she hadn’t seen anything new which annoyed her.
As frogspawn moved down the beach kicking up sand behind her with each stride, her belly growled as she shook off the annoyance seeing some splashing in the water up ahead which piqued her interest. Following her instincts she moved forwards picking up her pace. As frogspawn got closer her eyes widened seeing a large leathery figure beached in the sand as it splashed around trying to free itself , it was a shark but she had never seen one that looked like this on the island before. Its head was wide and broad with a large dorsal fin, it seemed to have gotten trapped when the tide came in.
It was a hammerhead shark and this is what the large female carno was looking for but now she was trying to figure out how to go about killing it as it was splashing and panicking, throwing water everywhere on the sand. Letting out a low rumble she walked around the shark circling as she figured out the best way to approach this, it was a new experience for her.
“It's a hammerhead shark, you look like a big guy” Frogspawn growled as she sniffed the air trying to dodge the splashing water that was going everywhere from the hammerhead, she wasn’t aware how dangerous they were compared to the much smaller reef sharks she had hunted before.
Approaching the hammerhead, Frogspawn placed her large claw on the tail of the hammerhead as it thrashed it around, now aware of her presence, having a hard time keeping her foot planted on it. This wasn’t going to be an easy task for her but she would make it work and who didn’t love a free meal that placed itself on the sand.
“Would you stop moving you dumb fish” she growled under breath before leaning down and biting the large dorsal fin of the hammerhead trying to pull it on it’s side to get a better bite on it, it was heavy and still had fight in it as it rocked side to side trying to deter Frogspawn off it. As she used her jaws to pull and drag the shark she was smacked in the face with its tail as it had come loose from underneath her foot which made her lose her grip walking off a bit as she shook her head from the hit.
With narrowed eyes she let out a huff, standing there as she studied the hammerhead until she finally had figured it out approaching the hammerhead and pushing it over with her large head until it had rolled on its back away from the water now fully on the sand. Frogspawn leaned down as she took a bite out of the soft underbelly of the hammerhead before lifting her bloodied jaws and using her strong bite, crushing its skull until no movement could be seen from the large hammerhead.
“There we go, that was a lot longer than it needed to be” Frogspawn mumbled to herself “these things are a lot more hardy than the normal reef sharks” as she began to eat her kill she was now full and not hungry anymore which was her whole goal in hunting the hammerheads they provided a great meal and added a new prey animal to her list. Frogspawn laid down in the sand as she watched small aerial dinosaurs fly down and scavenge from her kill, but now full she had no care letting them enjoy the hammerhead as well. The large female would stay near the beach for the next few days as she could benefit from the new broad headed sharks.
With a full belly she let out a yawn from her bloodied jaws before letting out a content sigh, a good hunt successful and that was enough for her and trying a new prey was always a great experience.
