It was a cool autumn morning on the island as most were sluggish and slow moving to their start to the morning but others were in a quick hurry as during this time of the month it brought bountiful harvests of food which made foraging much more tasty than usual. The sound of two heavy sets of footsteps crushing against the soft ground echoed through the small forest as quicker smaller footsteps traveled in front of them, soon stopping as it became quiet before a small voice could be heard.

“Come on you two big lumbering slowpokes. We are going to miss the best parts that the croplands have if we keep moving at this pace!” Kalameet, a pachy, said screaming at his much larger herbivore friends that were trying their best to keep up to the much smaller herbivore. The small group had been making their way to the well known croplands as they were wanting to get a taste of the delicious and various crops that grew during the heat and finally bloomed during the autumn months on the island.

Peluda and Poltergeist had been before and remembered the rich crops such as corn, and the large orange pumpkins which was always a favorite among the herbivores on the island. It had been a few years since the two had been but when Kalameet wanted them to come with him they couldn’t say no but keeping up with the much faster and hyper pachy it was a task.

“We are almost there Kalameet relax plus Peluda hasn’t been here for a bit she wants to look around, and there is no rush” The much larger sty said letting out a chuckle as he watched Peluda look around as she was happy with the new orange and brown colors some of the trees had spotted on their leaves. 

Continuing on the group kept moving as they went into a deeper forest area where an old abandoned crop had laid as old fencing surrounded the perimeter which meant they were getting close, Kalameet balancing as he walked across the fence posts before watching his friends with a smile.

“Thanks for inviting us out Kalameet I always love me some pumpkin, and going out here is always a pleasure with friends” Peluda said as she bumped into Poltergeist playfully “I cannot wait to taste those pumpkins they are always the best or at least I remember from when I was a hatchling” she added as they continued to walk enjoying the cool breeze that was going through the island along with the leaves falling of the trees.

Kalameet jumped off the fence post before looking ahead as he could smell the various crops which made him jump in excitement, they were close he could feel it. “This way you big lugs! We are almost there. I can taste it, come on let's go!” He said before running behind the two and pushing them with his head before running ahead to the open field that was bursting in color, the two stys picking up pace as they followed Kalameet coming to a stop with their eyes widened as they fell on the various crops that were filled to the brim with colorful food.

They had made it and the crops were bountiful, bursting with various yellows and orange colors. The group rushed into the fields as they began to pull up various corn and pumpkins, Kalameet was straight into the corn as he threw some up into the air before catching them in his beak. Poltergeist and Peluda watched and laughed before making their way further into where the much larger pumpkins were with both of them using their horns to break them or stomp on them as the juicy guts poured out of them.

Kalameet came to join the two who were turning pumpkin drunk as they kept eating pumpkins and squash, as he wanted in on the juicy flavors they had packed inside them. The three friends laughed as they had their fill and were now all laying down with Peluda smiling at the boys letting out a small chuckle herself. 

With full bellies and the sound of others approaching the group of friends had their fill and watched as more herbivores had come to enjoy the bountiful foods that autumn had brought time and time again. It was a great adventure. The three got to enjoy some good food and beautiful autumn weather, and Peluda loved watching all the herbivores come together and hang out as everyone was so friendly.

Poltergeist sat up as he shook himself out of his pumpkin choma before nudging Kalameet who was asleep beside the two.

“Everyone full and ready to go, we have a long way back” He said smiling before heading off with the two catching up taking a couple pumpkin pieces for the road back.
