The sound of water running echoed throughout the dense forest and tucked back inside the large tree’s was a cave overgrown with plants along with the sound of small pitter patter of running could be heard past the stream as a small voice called out to two other small figures.
“Wait up Abandon you are way too fast, I don’t know how you do it” Castle said as he ruffled out his feathers looking back at Typhoon who was just catching but as he caught his breath trying to keep up to their younger sibling Abandon. The three had been growing and learning about their world while their mother had gone off hunting leaving the younglings behind to their own devices, which meant to stay close to the cave they called home until she was back.
“Oh come on you big lugs I can’t always be faster than you” Abandon said laughing at the two before she sat down looking around hearing her stomach grumble which made her jump slightly “When is mom going to be back I am hungry” As the other two looked at her before shaking their head and letting out a laugh “she usually isn’t to long but maybe we could try that thing she calls hunting!”
Typhoon said from behind the two as he stood looking around the area before giving off a toothy smile to the two “come on Castle and Abandon, let's go find something I am sure its not too hard to hunt she makes it seem easy” as the other two got to their feet and followed their much larger brother curious on what they would find.
As the three followed the small stream looking for something that they could possibly hunt, as various large bugs flew around the stream peaking the three’s interest as Abandon tried to jump and catch them in her jaws with her brothers laughing when she missed. “Aw I was so close, why are they so hard to catch” She grumbled to herself as Typhoon and Castle had another idea from watching their mother do it when she visited the stream and catching a fish would feed all three of them but trying to catch one without experience it would be a lot harder than they thought it was going to be but the three were up for a challenge.
“Come over here you two, look inside the stream see the fish we could try catching those I don’t think it'll be too hard” Typhoon said to Castle and Abandon as they leaned over the stream watching the water move and the fish splash before laying dormant in the stream.
“Oh I see them, but what if we fall in? Mom always told us to be careful around the stream as it can be deep” Castle said before seeing Abandon sneak past them and further up the stream to a large log that hung over it slightly.
Typhoon spoke up as he walked on the log carefully holding his balance before looking back at his siblings “hold my tail and I’ll see if I can reach and bite it” he said with a smirk across his face as the log creaked and made noise with the weight of him on it. “And Abandon stick your tail in the water and make a movement to scare it” he added afterwards feeling the small toothly bite of Castle grab his tail to hold him.
The three siblings had laid out their hunting plan and now it was time to put it in action, with little experience it was going to be a bit harder than they thought as Abandon began making
Movement with her tail in the water watching the large fish swim around moving away from her and towards the log “It's working typhoon! Get ready” she hissed in excitement.
Castle planted his feet on the ground making sure to hold typhoon tightly in his jaws so he wouldn’t fall in the water. with slow movements typhoon leaned down waiting for the moment as the fish got closer into his jaws strike zone, it was all about timing now and he had to be patient.
“Now typhoon grab it , it’s swimming past!” Abandon said as she ran up to help Castle hold him as Typhoon leaned down grabbing hold of
The fish his jaws making a splash as they entered the water and the fish splashing trying to get free from them. It was a fight and one the three were not prepared for as the fish flipped and flopped around in Typhoon's jaws.
“ Pull Abandon , pull him back up” Castle grumbled through his jaws as he moved backwards with the help of the small cryo who was doing her best she could. With one final pull from them they had pulled him up but tripped over some rocks as the three went flying backwards but landed softly with Typhoon sitting up with the fish still in his jaws and a smile on his face.
Gently placing the fish down as it still flopped around the three celebrated the catch they had worked hard to hunt and they had done it.
“ We did it, we caught the fish, look at that I told you we had it” Typhoon said, poking and inspecting the fish with his claws as it let out its last few flops before becoming still.
“That thing was huge!” Abandon said as she pushed past her brothers wanting to take a look at it for herself.
As the three admired their catch and hard work the sound of their mothers voice could be heard from afar wanting them to come back to the cave.
“ Come on, we have to go show mother, let's go!” the three said as they carried the fish towards the sound of her voice walking past her as she was wide eyed and had a startled look across her face.
“ Where on earth did you find that you three?” she said, looking at them as they stopped all with toothy grins across their jaws.
“ We caught it, aren't you proud!, it was so powerful but we manged” they answered back before picking up their newly hunted meal and taking it into the cave with their mother not far behind chuckling to herself, it was time to enjoy the catch they worked hard for and it was a skill well learned for the three, besides who doesn’t love a freshly caught fish.
