The sound of large lumbering footsteps could be heard. A large black feathered figure that spotted a pale white feathered face made his way across the sand leaving footprints behind as he walked kicking up and behind him, as he carried foliage in his jaws being careful to not drop it as it was being used for a very important purpose. Rocket had been watching his nest for awhile as the female he had paired with disappeared nearly a week ago and had never returned leaving the large male sucho with a nest full of eggs and he wasn’t sure how many would hatch but he did his best to care for them and one in particular that had showed signs of life frequently with rolling around.
As he approached the nest he had noticed the one egg in particular had moved a fair bit since he had gone out to get foliage which had his interest on high as he leaned down putting the foliage on the nest. Before sitting down in the sand letting out a sigh as he grumbled to himself, with one egg in particular starting to move around and chirp with the egg cracking little by little as one red eye peaked through a hole of the egg as she took a breath of fresh air for the first time with her tiny lungs filling up from the air around her.
Using her claws she had broken through the egg letting out a chirp her once dark world now full of color as she rolled out of her egg. Volcano had hatched into the harsh world and getting the hang of her limbs was now her next test, and it seemed like her entrance had peaked interest from her guardian who now was tending to the nest and her using his jaws that were used to harm things but now it was in a gentle manner as Rocket had now seen Volcano.
Her fiery orange eyes locking onto Rocket as she chirped out for him and nuzzled her new parent which was Rocket, hatching was a memorable moment for most young hatchlings as taking in the world around her was just amazing to her little mind as the sounds echoed around her. The bright blue waves coming in from the tide also was of interest for little Volcano as she used his strength to pull herself up over the nest wall, losing her balance she rolled down the side of the nest as sand flung up into Rocket’s face causing him to sneeze but let out a chuckle.
“Well aren’t you just a little explorer” Rocket said letting out a small laugh, before following Volcano who was now playing in the sand feeling in between her claws, it was alot for a little hatchling to take in but all that was on her mind was Rocket as she chirped calling him over before nuzzling him once more making her own footprints in the sand which got her distracted.
Their bond now grew as Volcano began to copy Rocket’s moves which he was heading towards the water because young sucho’s needed to learn how to swim as soon as they hatched it was a key part of their survival, Volcano not far behind her dad. Once at the water Rocket had sat down in the wet sand watching Volcano who wasn’t really sure what to think about the cool liquid leaning down to sniff it before stepping on the wet sand and jumping back at the coldness that traveled up her vibrant scales.
“What should your name be? Those scales are bright” Rocket mumbled to himself as he watched Volcano play around in the sand with the tide coming in wetting his feathers before it went back out. After some thought his eyes opened wide before looking at Volcano and smiling “How about Volcano, you look like one I think that suits you” He said to her as Volcano smiled at the words from Rocket. But with that it was time to teach her how to swim, and it wasn’t easy but it would be a survival instinct and skill she would need , Rocket moving further back to get Volcano to follow him in which she did letting out a hiss at the water when it came back up causing her to run away but come back with curiosity as she wanted to join her dad but being unsure about the ocean water.
Letting out a breath Volcano’s instincts had kicked in as the urge to follow her dad was strong and surpassed the fear of the water , with slow steps she entered the foot deep water feeling as the cool water went up her scales and her eyes locked on Rocket who she was determined to get to but letting out chirps of fear as she kept walking.
“That's it little one come on! The water isn’t too bad just focus on me” Rocket said to Volcano who was now forced to swim due to the water getting deeper as the tide pushed in a bit more before going back out but Rocket was blocking it so it wouldn’t take little Volcano away into the ocean. Using her claws she began to kick keeping her head above the water eventually getting to Rocket in which she crawled up onto his back nuzzling into his feathers, she had done it and was in the safety of her dad’s feathers which allowed her to take in the full world beyond the beach which was the vast blue ocean water and colorful reefs below.
“Well good job, but let's show you a bit more!” Rocket said looking at Volcano and nuzzling her, the first swim for a baby sucho was always important and one that grew the bond between baby and parent. Rocket stood making his way into the water as he swam showing his new hatchling the world around her pointing out various colorful fish and reef with Volcano excitedly chirping the two enjoying a day together and the young sucho learning about her new world taking in every little detail and what was better than having a free ride from dad.
After a little while Volcano had fallen asleep on Rocket's back, nuzzled into his feathers as they continued to enjoy the day with one another, It was a lot for the little sucho but bonding with dad was the best way to spend it and learning how to swim was always a good thing that was needed. over the next few days the two would bond further but that was enough adventuring for today for the two.
