There was a new kind of chill to the air, a sharpness that stood in contrast to previous days of soft warmth, even if it had been milder for each passing day the last couple of weeks. Autumn was closing in, and the changes in the climate had started to show too. To begin, it was just the wind, during summer it had been a welcome breeze to cool them, now it had a bit more bite to it. It had made them have a conversation about maybe moving inwards and away from the coast, while most of them handled the changes pretty well, protected from the worst of it by their feather coats, the previous year had proven that the colder months were less kind to Cant, who were the only one in their little family that didn’t have the feathers to shield him from the winds. They always made due by sharing their warmth, of course, his own sand colored coat was the second thickest of the bunch, only rivaled by Kassadin, and he never minded being in one of the outer “shields” in their cuddle pile. But they had wanted to get ahead of any possible hardships this year, moving before it was actually already a problem. Aside from that they all could also barely wait to show their little girl more of the island, even though the little Utah had loved a summer of warm sand and cool waters. Maybe they could show her where they’d found her, something Brick was also intrigued to see. While he had been there at her hatching his partners had already found her egg before he met them.
As if to ease their decision making life had let them meet one of the shopkeepers, who had excitedly told them about all the new possible wares that had mysteriously washed ashore, and in other ways found their way onto the island, and he could let them keep something themselves if they could only help him gather some of these new fantastic supplies. The more they were the more things he could get, he had argued passionately.  After some deliberation, the four of them always worked together and talked any decision through so they all were on the same page, it was decided. They would help him find some new wares and make it a sort of family trip at the same time, kind of like a treasure hunt they told Camille, who immediately was onboard with the idea.
That’s how they had suddenly found themselves at the entrance of a cave, just at the border of the shore and an overhanging cliff, Brick at the tail end of the group with Cant and Kass at the front, following an overly excited young Camille chasing something she swore would be valuable drifting down a small inlet river running into the caves. Fel had gotten left in the middle, after first trying to keep up with the youngling but after not long at all deciding to wait for Brick instead, something the sand colored Styra appreciated with a warm smile.

Kassadin took a deep breath, breathing in the cool autumn winds. It was by far his favourite season. Just the right temperature to not freeze, but it also never get too hot for the crested styra during these times. What a joy.

This would be Camille’s very first autumn, as she was still very young. She was full of life and was surely too much for her fathers to handle at times, but they loved her little energetic self regardless.

The little pale utah ran back and forth between treasure she found on the beach, showing shells and rocks off to her fathers, she especially liked showing them off to Kassadin, since he himself was a bit of a trinket collector. That was how he found her egg, after all. He had thought it to be a rock, so a little raptor hatching out of his trinket pile was definitely a big surprise!

Kassadin smiled as Camille very eagerly took it upon herself to gather things for the shopkeeper, but also perhaps for themselves, he didn't have to know!

They did slowly but surely approach some coastal caves, and Camille excitedly jumped across their backs before leaping in before her herbivore family. She rushed off to fetch something interesting she had spotted way before her fathers could, perks of carnivore eyes and all, and happily chirped as she saw them follow her.

Kassadin happily shook his head, filled with warmth and joy. While Camille of course was not in charge of the whole adventure, her energy and playfulness was definitely what helped dictate where the group would go. They couldn't just let her run off without surveillance after all.

Kassadin also made sure to snuggle up to Cant when he had the chance, to make sure he wasn't too cold, and he often looked back to make sure Fel and Brick weren't too far behind. Not that they could exactly get lost along the shoreline, but he liked keeping the group together as much as possible.

Cant couldn’t say he liked the fall. It was nice, in some aspects for sure. But overall the season was more trouble than it was worth. The cold was biting, the leaves were slowly covering the entire ground and there weren’t as many fun things to do. You couldn’t really bathe because the water was even colder even if the sun was out. Just walking by the shore was horrible enough.

Cant looked out over the other dinosaurs and gave a small smile. Despite how he felt about fall he couldn’t deny that the right company made everything better. Brick, Kassadin, Camille and Fell made everything better as they walked in a group. He was quite lucky, despite them walking on a cold coastal shore on their way for the caves. He didn’t expect the caves to be much warmer. Rather he was quite sure they would be colder. But it was worth it because they were all there, every single one of them meant so much to him.

Cant had taken it upon himself to be a sort of pack dinosaur during this trip. He had some old, tattered bags thrown over his back that the others would keep on putting their things in. Anything that looked shiny would go in the bags. Anything colorful. Or simply anything interesting. He didn’t mind. He was quite happy carrying all their trinkets.

Fell was walking with Cant. He was keeping his head high and looking around them for anything that could give off treasure vibes. He wasn’t entirely sure what he was looking for. He didn’t know if it would be shiny or if it would just be oddly shaped. If it was something that stuck out or something that you would have to look closely for. He occasionally would stop and dig in the sand in case it was something he saw that could be a treasure. Mostly it was just wet stone or something similar, it was fall after all - everything was wet during this time of the year. Even as they walked around the sea was constantly spraying them with salty waters.

The caves along the coast could easily have treasure in them, but which one would they choose? Searching one of them would probably take a lot of time. One cave could go on for miles and miles. Fell looked over the caves. There wasn’t really anything that caught his fancy with the coastal caves. It felt as if when they found the cave it would stand out somehow. Maybe it was wishful thinking that they would somehow get a sign of some sort. But they kept walking along the shore, collecting anything that could be deemed treasure-adjacent.
