1888: Poggle

Owned by WrenBaile

Poggle likes to be alone due to the simple convinience of only having one mouth to feed. He hatched inside a decripit Morpheus Genesis facility whose stasis chambers failed, and managed to find his way out, narrowly escaping the Twins in the process. He nearly died of starvation in the maze of halls before being rescued by a passing adult, Amelie. once rescued, Amelie raised Poggle for the traditionally alloted time, a full four seasons and a day, before sending him on his way into the world. her generosity sticks with him for the rest of his life and influences his decisions from thereon out.

Poggle has an intense interest in anything human made, often going so far as to seek out the cities to explore despite their danger. The way of the heavy-jaw is one marked by their curiosity towards the past- their own past is scarecely recognized. due to not living in groups or family units, its hardly ever that they are around eachother long enough to pass on stories, so whatever they may have believed of the first emergence from the stone dens is lost to memory, even if it was only several generations back. as a consequence, their curiosisty is instead channeled towards the past of everything else, their surroundings, other species, the world. most don't persue this curosity very far, only wandering until they find a place to settle and defend as their own, but it took Poggle longer than most to settle in his own permanent home.

He lives in an old bunker between the two mountains in the centre of the island, venturing out to hunt and socialize occasionally. he hoards food in the industrial refrigerator inside the bunker- it might not be functional, but it's still insulated. in the dead of winter his place is often a hotspot for lone carnivores to beg for food, of which he always has more than enough. even herbivores know of the safe haven he offers, and he tries to keep the fridge loaded with vegetation as well. failing that, he's always willing to offer them respite anyway, so long as he is repaid eventually. from carnivores he asks a return on the food he gave them, either hunted or scavenged but brought to his doorstep, and from herbivores he asks for information on the newly deceased, and ideally where to find them before the other scavengers on the island do.

He's not one to seek out company, but if someone happened to wander close to his lair he'd be more than happy to tell them some stories and share a meal before sending them on their way. as he gets older he becomes more open and approachable. he's a rough-around-the-edges type of guy, who'd rather be grumpy than cheerful, and his companion TakTak(an extremely talkative tapejara) tends to draw out the worst of his grouchiness. conversely, their ward and his adopted daughter, hebi, (who is brought to them by a longbellow who was a little confused on the meaning of 'return of investment') brings out the best in both of them, and he's a caring gaurdian to her, and fiercly protective.
