Status:
2325: Callahan
Island: Pera
Biome: Coastal, urban, forest, ashlands, highlands
Diet: small-medium mammals, reptiles; will go after small-medium herbivorous dinos with a hunting partner
Faction: None
Mate: Petrichor
Weight: Slim
Height: Small
Length: Long
Callahan is much smaller both in height and in build than the average utahraptor. Her feather coat adds a bit of weight to her frame, particularly when she fluffs them up to make herself seem much larger than she is. She's capable of bursts of incredible speed, but tires quickly afterwards.
Notable Traits: Her feather coat is short, easily ruffled, and has a slight downy texture, muffling her movements when she creeps through the undergrowth.
Personality
Callahan is the very physical representation of "small, but mighty." Her small size doesn't deter her from what she sets her mind to, which could include anything from climbing up a particularly tall cliff face to driving away a dinosaur that's three times her size. She's rather snappish towards newcomers, particularly those that don't seem to get the message that she wants to be left alone. She has her space and she has her small collection of friends and she'd very much like to keep it way, thank you very much. Attempting to push too quickly to be her friend is certainly on the fast track to participating in a less-than-friendly scuffle. She doesn't throw caution to the wind, though. Her bristliness is omnipresent, but she knows when she's in over her head and when to back out. She'll be irritated about it, but she's not about to throw herself against a challenge if she knows she has no odds of coming out on top.
Despite her misgivings towards company, she actually does quite enjoy the company of other utahraptors - provided that they're not too chattery and respect her boundaries, of which there are many. She's a social hunter, and has a few other utahs that she knows she can turn to when times are lean and she needs help taking down prey. She is wary of larger predators, and may try to chase them away or simply hide until they've passed through.
History & Relations
Callahan hatched on Isla Pera, one of two eggs from a solitary nest. She and her brother, Dullahan, attached themselves to the first raptor that they found. Layla turned out to be not the best of parents, but she made sure that the two didn't starve when they wouldn't leave her alone.
Layla, being an independent sort, often left the two hatchlings alone while she set off on her own from time to time. She'd always come back, of course, but in the meantime, the twins were often left to their own devices. They found one another to be enough company, never wanting for much more.
As the twins grew more and more independent, they strayed from Layla's care. She had the best hunting partner that she could ask for with her brother by her side, and Layla more often than not seemed less than interested in their care - particularly as they grew more capable of taking care of themselves. They struck out on their own as a capable young duo.
When the Twins blew up the dam, however, Callahan's world shifted abruptly. Dullahan was washed away, leaving Callahan with a crippling sense of loss and isolation. Her other half was gone. She searched and searched for her brother, but the water washed away all trace of him - even his scent. It was devastating.
Though it was a struggle, Callahan now navigated the world alone. She kept to the island's forests, the ashlands, and the shadowy urban areas where she could more easily navigate and blend in to the darker surroundings. The world was cruel without her brother by her side, and she was forced to find new ways of taking care of herself and watching her back.
Eventually, her struggles would be made easier as she found herself in the company of another utah, Jaeda. The other female was a perfect compliment to her in the way that Dullahan had been - strength to her speed, sweet to her salt. Over time, she helped heal the raw edges of Callahan's heart.
That didn't make her first encounter with Novac any more pleasant, though. The ridiculous male literally crashed into her, delusional and convinced that he was somewhere else entirely. Begrudgingly, she helped him find some food and water - she's not heartless - but he seemed to take that as an invitation to become an unwelcome tagalong. He's sweet enough, but he doesn't seem to understand what the phrase "get lost" really means.
Nor, as it turned out, did Petrichor. The taller female was about as persistent as Novac in keeping Callahan company, though she's much better about giving Callahan her space when she's feeling a little prickly. Callahan can't help but to feel a little ruffled around the smooth-tongued utah, though she's loath to admit it.
Fun Facts:

- She is terrifyingly good at climbing trees and other vertical surfaces
- Most of her hunts take place between dusk and dawn, but she is active at virtually any hour
