Skele is an oddly proportioned bird. His limbs are thin, a little too long, his neck is long, his whole self is just...a little bit stretched out. His scruffy feather coat is rarely well-kept, giving him a ruffled appearance that truly reflects the sort of unsettled, disheveled individual that he is.
Notable Traits: Though missing some feathers, those that he does have are incredibly soft and plush, hiding a bit of his stretched proportions. He has very little muscle to his build; he has a very narrow frame.
Personality
Skele is, by all meanings of the phrase, a bit of an odd bird. He has a tendency to just...lurk. Terribly socially inept. He's incredibly awkward, mostly, and has a tendency to stare. He doesn't quite seem to know how to participate in a conversation other than to chuckle from time to time. He does know how to speak, he just...doesn't very often. Most dinos that encounter him would think that he was entirely voiceless. His strange proportions, towering height, and generally unsettling presence tend to put others a bit off from him, which is really a bit lonely.
He really is a kindly creature, just...off-putting.
History & Relations
Skele...loves his parents, he really does. He's learned many valuable lessons from them - how to forage, how to care for himself, all the best places to hunker down when there's bad weather or just to have a nice place to rest for a while. Neither of them, unfortunately, were very good at teaching him social skills. He grew up without much interaction from other theris, and Obscurus and Pest are quite strange, by their own rights. It's safe to say that he got his thousand-yard-stare from them.
When his strange and peculiar "uncle" Ninnan came around to guide the young theri in the "right" direction, things...did not necessarily clear up for him. By the time he was old enough to be on his own, leaving his "uncle" - how were they related? Were they related? - he was left with far more questions than answers, and no less sure of how to interact with others. Aggression certainly didn't seem like the right answer, but when he tried to be nice, it just...didn't end quite how he expected. More often than not, he was shunned.
He does try to make friends, in his own way, though he's not exactly one for casual conversation. He's also "adopted" a young utahraptor - sort of. Why she stuck around is anyone's guess, but she did - and he loves her. Not perhaps in the way that a father loves their hatchling, but the way an uncle loves a niece. She seems to love him too - or at least, find him interesting enough to stick around.
When he encountered Liphyra, the young utahraptor noticed that he was intrigued by the other theri, and decided to help him gain her attention. He brought her gifts, preened her feathers, showed her every affection that he could - and by some small miracle, the patient theri looked kindly upon Skele, and returned his interest. He is rarely very far from her, though he still has very little idea of how to interact with others. He lets her do most of the talking, should there be conversation to be had.
Fun Facts:
- Skele does not actively hunt small animals, but will eat birds and small mammals if he comes across them and catches them
- He walks with a hunched posture, typically making himself more parallel to the ground to try to lessen his height and seem less intimidating. It doesn't really work
