788: Templar

Templar has always been a loner. He is headstrong and prone to bouts of aggression when provoked (and, being a proud creature, this is an easy task). He has a difficult time getting along with others of his kind, especially those with more dominant personalities. Still, he will gladly accept the company of most creatures who tolerate him, and can coexist peacefully with most species of dinosaur, including herbivores; Templar is largely a scavenger and will only hunt other dinos if he is starving on death's door (although he will still eat small local game). It is not so much out of kindness towards other species as it is part of his... unusual faith, for which others find him off-putting.

Templar has an intense fascination- bordering obsession- with mankind, and everything they've left behind. He essentially worships the humans that came before him, and has become convinced that they will return to protect the peaceful and righteous who serve them and exterminate the savages who do not. He preaches this little gospel to anyone who will listen. It hasn't made him very popular thus far, though. 

He lives in an old abandoned church on the outskirts of an abandoned city, providing shelter and aid to those passing through- especially those who have run-ins with some of the dangerous carnivore packs roaming the empty streets...

 

Templar is very close to Crusader, his right hand man, and sees him as... well, it's complicated. Crusader can do little wrong in Templar's eyes, although it's true Crusader has a tendency to be a tad more aggressive in spreading their faith than Templar deems necessary. Some might say the cryo is a little too fond of the headstrong herbivore. Templar largely dismisses these claims, but will become flustered when inquired why a cryo of his age has yet to settle down with a mate.
