Same link, the old version is still viewable here if needed: https://pessiceratops.dreamwidth.org/file/31220.png
I noticed that there was an issue with some of the shading not really showing up properly due to poor contrast in the exported image, so I fixed that. I also tweaked the dappled shadows/fixed some stray marks in a couple spots so it's more clear where those shadows end and the solid shading of the underside begins.
If this isn't sufficient then I'm unclear on what exactly is needed, as I reviewed the standards and there's nothing saying that shadows cast on top of a dino and those from the actual shading can't use the same palette (especially since this is both realistic as well as a standard approach in animation/animation-style coloring). In this case my intent was to define/imply an edge between the two by having the dappled spots of light STOP appearing after a certain point--the /solid/ parts of the shadows are clearly not cast by the trees but are the shading on the actual character. This was a little harder to see on Doog's side and tail (due to being deeper into the shadows) but was present in the original submission on the forelegs and face (though the face suffered from the contrast issue noted above that made the shading on the lower part much harder to see). This also isn't the first time I've done a submission where part of a character's body was entirely in shadow and only the part outside of that shaded (e.g. submission #3372) so I'm not really sure what's being asked for when there's already a distinction being made between the "dapples" that are cast shadows and the *solid* that's the actual shading.
