Emerald had been wandering for a while, like a feather on the wind he had simply drifted with the breeze, landing wherever he may. He longed for somewhere of him own, somewhere safe and serene, where he did not fear the others of the island trespassing. It was there upon a meadow that he stumbled across it, between a gap in some large hedges. What we would call a train depot, decrepit and destroyed, in which he now sought refuge. It took him all day, toiling, and pulling the thickets and brambles away, stacking them in the hedge gap so that it would cover the vision of anybody looking to enter, until he had the large yard, a warm barn, and the shade of the trains to himself. It was then that he lay down, the warm grass beneath him, and went for a nap.
