When he was large enough to begin to fend for himself, Casper left his family in search of a space to call his own. He wandered for quite some time before he found himself in a sheltered cove with rich kelp bed, and closer to the shore, a cave that he could shelter in during the day when the sun was at its most fearsome. The kelp was thick, though, and difficult to maneuver through. With some work, he could clear some of the thicker patches of kelp to make it easier to get to and from the cave to the deeper waters where he could hunt freely. His efforts accidentally disturbed some of the other residents of the cove - a small pod of atopodentatus, which were, themselves, incredibly small. It struck Casper then that he was no longer a small pup being sheltered by Crab, but now large enough to be the thing that guardians sheltered their pups from - except for the most curious, who had no trouble swimming right up to him to introduce herself.
