Ap (het form) | | APAP (hom form)Appaloosa is a blobby, irregular marking that features two different colors

Shape and Placement

  • Appaloosa layers on top of all other markings except Piebald and Curse.
  • Creates white patches with sparse spots layered above.
  • Most spots should be in the white patches or have a white halo but can form minimal stray spots.
  • This marking cannot mimic other markings.
  • This marking cannot have holes in it.
  • Can be as small as you like; but must be recognisable as Appaloosa and have at least one spot.
  • Het form must originate in the minimum range and stay somewhat connected to the 'source'.
  • Hom form must have a patch in the minimum range but can have multiple unconnected 'sources'.

Color

  • When Het, the white part of the marking must be a single color picked from the white swatch below.
-- When Hom, the white part can have a two-tone gradient, this second color must also selected from the white swatch.
  • When Het, spots must be a single color; either the same as the base color or any natural color that is darker than the base color.
-- When Hom, the spots can be two different colors, the second color follows the same rules as the Het spots do.
  • The spots can be affected by color modifiers, but the white part must always be from the white swatch.

Examples

An example of Het Appaloosa

An example of Hom Appaloosa

This Appaloosa features too much of the darker color! It shouldn't fill the entire white area.

This Appaloosa look like bands or stripes which is not allowed. It should always appear blotchy or blobby.

This Appaloosa is incorrect because it is creating small spots rather than a blotchy or blobby pattern!
